What is the cost to rebuild and paint a 14-foot underground pool?

I’m interested in getting some estimates on the cost to rebuild and paint a 14-foot underground pool. The project would include fixing the water pipes, installing a new motor and a full paint.

Most pools run upward of 4k on up. It really depends on the style and not so much on the size. If you want a plain oval pool with simple features, you can find the materials for just under 4k, but you have to shop around. Our less modest pools can run as high as 25k for a pool the same size.

It would depend on what material the pool is currently built out of?

PAINT? Really? I think that you mean PLASTERING.

Replumbing a pool requires the removal of the concrete decking, in order to install the pipes around the pool. The skimmer is usually removed and replaces and return lines are core drilled through the side walls.

Depending on the size of the pool and quantity of skimmers, it coudl run $3-6,000 to replumb the pool, $3-5,000 to replaster and less that $1,000 for a new pump.

Everything is dependent upon the condition of the pool shell and the coping & tile as well. Cracking in the tile, concrete shell, rusting rebar or other issues can significantly increase the cost.

I highly recommend avoiding paint in your pool if at all possible. Once a pool is painted it always has to be painted. I recommend contacting a local plastering company and look into products such as Quartz for your surface. Quartz is harder than a stainless steel knife blade and will outlast any other surface you can put in it.

I would agree that redoing all the piping is a good idea. The extra costing is small compared to the cost of the whole contract and at least you will have peace of mind knowing that the whole pool has been refurbished and will give you many more years of use.

The option of rebuilding the entire pool is a reasonable one. If your pool is constructed of a sprayed concrete material its pretty well-known within the industry that over time the surface actually begins to lose its watertight abilities. Eventually, many such pools begin to leach water through the entire surface of the pool, especially in the areas of the interior surface that may be wearing thinner and thinner over time.

The option of redoing all of your plumbing is also a safe choice considering age. Today, there are simple ways to re-plumb water lines, when used throughout the process, can actually help the pump work more efficiently using less energy. This is achieved by reducing resistance in the lines compared to traditional fittings. It may be costing you near about 4.5 to 5000$. I hope it will be helpful.

If your looking to paint a pool… walk away from the company willing to paint the pool.
Painting a pool is never a good idea. You will constantly run into issues down the road.
Re surfacing the pool is the way to go. I would recommend a consultation to see if you can
spruce the pool up with an acid wash, or if you need to invest into a re-marcite.
If you end up going with a re surface I would suggest going with a stonescape finish. This finish offers a 20 year warranty, compared to 5 year that other finishes carry. The stonescape finish is made of natural stone, and is resistant to staining.
