Most common types of wood used for cabinets is hardwoods and veneers for classic and sophisticated cabinets.
A lot of cabinet builders use different combos. Some use plywood and maple for the styles and doors, some use MDF for doors only. The particle board cabinets are the cheapest but they are also used with maple and or poplar faces and doors.
Hardwoods provide the most dynamic range of options when it comes to custom cabinetry.
The most common woods for cabinet construction are plywoods & particle board (melamine) panels. European cabinets have an edgebanding on the panels & face frames of different hardwoods are applied to your standard cabinet boxes
Particle board/ veneer.
I like to sell and install hardwoods.
The cabinet is basically 2 parts.
Interior base cabinet will be mostly done with plywood or melamine (plywood is recommended).
The front door depends on the style, usually solid wood like oak, maple, alder, cherry etc or MDF panels for flat look.
