What is the most outrageous building permit you have ever been required to get or have seen?

We had to get a permit to be able to have a Business Sign on our vehicle in a Gated Community and the best part is the rules for the development is no work vehicle is allowed on the property without the vehicle have a sign of the Company you work for…
The most outrageous permit I ever heard of is when Bridgeport made the shaders pull a permit to install a tv hanger that was a simple 24 inch tv flat screen that took two screws to attach to the wall. They forced them to get a permit months after the work was done that cost 15 dollars. I thought that was a little over the top

A permit for a shed to be made off your property and installed on your property meanwhile in pa you can build a detached garage under a 1000 square foot and you don’t need a permit for any of it building to electrical plumbing etc that puzzles me and is bizarre

The most ridiculous permit I have had to get so far was a permit to hang a single cabinet in a kitchen. We didn’t need it for the floor cabinets that we were putting in but the upper cabinet that we were putting up way across the room had to have a permit.
We had to pull a permit in order to place a lawn sign at one of the properties we were doing work at.
The Home Depot recently wanted a permit to purchase a drain pan for my hot water heater. Also need permit to paint house or trim dead palm fronds from a tree. They must really need the money, giving traffic citations for going one mile over the speed limit.
During hurricane Andrew in Miami, I was forced to secure a permit, with full engineered drawings, for a “dog house”…Now that’s ridiculous!

I have had to obtain many permits in my day, but I must say that none of them were ridiculous because, at the end of the day, it saves both you and the customer a headache by making sure the job is done the right way.
Borough of Millvale, Pa 15209 Requires a permit for any and all projects. Replacement & repairs to remodel to new construction. They Have higher requirements then downtown Pittsburgh, Pa. Major cities have high requirements which I believe they deserve due to population and revenue that comes and goes. Surrounding Townships and Boroughs used to be less extensive but some are going way overboard to try to revitalize that area and are hurting the homeowners that currently live there. I like How the city has a list of what is what online, but the boroughs you always have to call and verify. This is something that is great but some are taking it to the extreme since the PA hic law passed in 2009.
