What is the one area of your contracting business where BuildZoom could be the most helpful?

So far, we have primarily focused on identifying great contracting businesses and routing qualified opportunities to them. As we expand, we’d like to hear about the areas of your business that you’d like the most help with. Pick one of these suggestions or just post your own!

  • Helping increase your close rate by fielding and qualifying all of your client opportunities and continually following up with them until they’re ready for an in-home meeting
  • Moving qualified deals through your sales pipeline, making sure your bids are developed and delivered efficiently
  • Serving as your project manager by keeping your client in the loop on progress during the construction work, allowing you to focus on execution

Have another suggestion? Post is to this thread!

Buildzoom is already doing way better than any other lead generator I have used… Mainly because I only pay for the jobs I get, not “Leads” that usually consist of maybe 1 out of 5 ending in a job. A lot of people don’t realize what concrete costs, and just want a price. They aren’t really serious. And thats fine, but on the other sites, your paying big bucks for their curiosity. On Buildzoom, they can get all the information they want, and make an informed decision, and I (the contractor) don’t have to pay unless I am going to MAKE money. Its awesome for everyone!

@appalachianconcrete - thanks so much for the validation. Going all-in on the referral model was a decision we made based on feedback from many of the contractors we have developed great relationships with and thanks to the building permit data, we’re able to effectively mitigate leakage (which is the one big concern when it comes to the referral model).

That being said, we want to continuously figure out how we can support our contracting community in new and helpful ways. I definitely would love to hear any thoughts you might have on this.

Buildzoom is doing great so far. Two notes though - fees should be structured to reflect the size of project - maybe somewhere from 5% for a job up to $5K to 0.5% for a job of $1M+. Another note - nobody knows Buildzoom…

@pryorconstruction thanks for the feedback. Regarding the referral fee, there is a good thread on this topic. At $1M - $10M, I’d be curious to better understand how the unit cost of acquisition increases and how the overall margin decreases.

On the second topic, we’re definitely working to increase public awareness of BuildZoom - there is definitely variance from region-to-region but the overall goal is to create 100% national awareness (and appreciation).

The best things BuildZoom could do to help us would be;

  1. Understanding our business completely so that they can help in improving the quality of leads they direct to us.

  2. They can improve the way they field and qualify leads so they can focus on key elements of prospects we are looking for and lend itself to a better initial dialogue or first time meeting with the client / prospect.

  3. It would also be nice if they could follow up with the prospects once signed on with the contractors at periodic times to track the satisfaction level of the client and performance of the contractor. This can then be used for statistical measurement and evaluation of contractor’s performance ranking.

The best thing Buildzoom could do to help us as Contractors is - to create an mobile app that we can use from our smart phones.

Hey @jtshawinc, we’re currently working on that, starting with iOS then Android. If you have an iPhone, reach out and I can get you set up on our early beta version
