I’m looking for a breakdown of the true cost of solar energy, per kWh, as of December 1st, 2015.
I live in San Francisco, but I’m curious about this cost around the entire country. Does it change in an area? If so, where do you live and what is the cost per kWh there.
When does it make economic sense to install solar, given the current tax incentives in place. When does it make economic sense to install solar with no tax incentives in place?
If solar does not yet make economic sense, what needs to happen for it to become economic. Better battery technology? More efficient solar panels?
The price changes depending on the panel them self, the micro-inverter, and the amount that of kWh you are installing.
Prices are any where between $3.5 - $7 per Watt, and in cases my be even higher.
the best way to find out if it is economic is to have a specialist come out, go over the last 6-12 PG&E bills and do the calculations including or not including any rebates and tax incentives for your area.
In general you want to be able to “pay off” the panels within 7 years.
We provide free estimates and a specialists analysis of your bills to maximize savings and recommend the most efficient system for your location and situation.
