Painting, Renovation, Lead, RRP certification, EPA
I would have to say that they need to worry if their home was built before 1978, and possibly a few years after, they should only hire a certified contractor to do renovations. Reason being a certified contractor knows how to minimize the exposure of lead based products in the home. I state a few years after as well because some contractors stock materials and if purchased pre 1978 there is the chance that they contain lead. This is taken directly from the EPA website:
Common renovation, repair, and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint (like sanding, cutting, replacing windows, and more) can create hazardous lead dust and chips which can be harmful to adults and children. Home repairs that create even a small amount of lead dust are enough to poison your child and put your family at risk.
Hope this helps anyone that is interested or looking for information!
