When looking for a new contractor be sure to shop around and get multiple estimates from atleast three different contrators, the main thing as a contrator we tell our clients is to see the contractors previous work, and possibly even go take a look at a job site they are currently working at and you can maybe even talk to that home howner to get some feed back. With 15 years experience the one thing we value outside of the quality of our work is communication and honesty so i would look for that with any new hire.
I would be glad to help you with any questions you have in hiring a contractor to remodel your bathroom. Please feel free to reach out to our company to schedule a free estimate.
Is there a scope of work? Is there a detailed plan? If no answers, anyone who provides an estimate is just guessing! It takes work in order to answer these questions. Who is willing?
ALWAYS be sure they are licensed and insured and they are all current. NEVER hurts to do a little research on the company and get any feedback you may from friends or neighbors.
Any time you are looking to hire a new contractor whether it be for a bathroom remodel or painting etc… always make sure they are licensed and insured. Take the time to check references and get at least three quotes before making a decision. I’ve been a contractor for over 25 years and I tell all my clients to do your homework before you make a decision because it’s your home and you’ll have to live with the decision for the rest of your life.
First off make sure the contractor is Licensed and Insured. Also make sure that they are experienced in doing bathroom projects. Bathrooms require extensive knowledge in Electrical, Plumbing, Drywall, and Tile work. Be sure to research your project and ask lots of questions. I’ve been doing this for over 25 Years and you really need to know what you are doing before tackling a bathroom. Also make sure that you are involved in the process with your contractor so you understand what’s being done and why. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
For most homeowners, the hardest part of any construction / remodeling isn’t the work, it’s finding a reliable contractor. Everyone has heard stories about contractors who tore apart the kitchen and never returned or projects that cost three times the contractor’s original bid. Choosing the right contractor can make the difference between a successful home renovation project and a disaster. Listed below is a list to check off when hiring a Los Angeles General Contractor.
Know what you want before you get estimates.
Ask friends, relatives and co-workers for references on contractors they have worked with.
Interview at least three contractors.
Check licenses status, insurance and works comp.
Get references and called them to get a feel for what’s in store.
A few things are to be considered when hiring a General Contractor to remodel your bathroom. First, consider your budget. Know what you are willing to spend. Second, determine your completion date. When you meet with the GC, let him know when you would like the project completed. He/She will provide his/her professional opinion on whether it is achievable. Finally, select your material. Have a general idea of what you want your bathroom to look like. If you have selected material, print off the specification page from the supplier’s website. If it is just an idea, then print off a few examples of what you want it to look like. You always want to be transparent, open and honest with your GC about your project wants and must-haves.
