I came home to find that our contractor had installed the same sized pulls on all of our kitchen cabinets. When I picked out the pull style, I assumed that the designer would make sure that they were proportional to the drawers.
I think the pulls on some of the drawers are too big and the designer should have ensured correct proportionality. What do the rest of you think? Are these pulls too large relative to the size of the drawers? And, if so, who is to blame? And, what can be done to correct the problem? Since the drawers are dovetailed, can new faces be ordered or must whole new drawers be ordered?
There are three people who are responsible in this situation from what it sounds like you the homeowner, the installation contractor and I believe there is a.designer involved . Depending on how much control was given to the designer is her responsibility or his to make those decisions in some cases Some clients give total control to the designer and that becomes her choice on what sizes they decide on other cases homeowners will consult with the designers throughout the process . also who is responsible for purchasing the hardware can come into play . It sounds as if you homeowner had no responsibility for purchasing them rather just picking them if the designer was the one to purchase them and hand them off to the contractor then he should not be responsible for installing them and it falls on the design.
Having uniform pull izes is a design aesthetic that I use often. They should be proportional to the smallest cabinet and go from there. By using only one size , it keeps the design simple and draws attention to the overall beauty of the kitchen not just the one item.
