I’m needing to have my log cabin moved from one side of my property to the other side. I’m trying to find someone that can move it for me, but I’m not sure what type of contractor to look for.
House moving usually requires a specialty license and specific insurance depending on which state and municipality you live in. I would recommend calling your local municipality and ask what they will require and also if they can refer someone who is already licensed in that field.
You must have done your home work on this task…you are confident the home can be relocated…overhead wires…distance from existing to new location…companies that do this are specialized in this work. They have special equipment, hydrolic jacks, they do leveling as well…some states do not have them…where are you located ???
A General Contractor with house moving experience may be the best option for you. House moving requires many varied resources and abilities for a successful completion. An electrical contractor is required to address the existing electrical service and system so that the house can be moved safely and attach the new service to the existing house after relocated. A plumber has a similar scope of work with water and waste lines. A foundation is typically poured at the new location requiring excavation and a concrete contractor. Additional work including aesthetic finishes, such as finish carpentry and painting, are performed once the house has been moved and the plumbing, electrical, and hvac systems have been reconnected and functioning properly.
House moving that not easy and required requires many varied resources and abilities for a successful completion. A General Contractor with house moving experience and good reputation should be the best option.
