Generally if the fence is older and the tannin has been leaching this is almost as good as a brand new fence to stain after it’s treated with wood bleach and pressure washed. If the wood comes out dark after being treated it is best to stain it with cedar stain. If it comes out light, you can stain it any color you’d like. Usually transparent stains look more like wood.
