What's the best paying construction trade?

I was interested in what the highest paying trade was? I’ve heard plumbing pays well. If it matters I live in California

I would say tile work or wood working. Typically in NYC, when I sub out this work, it’s more expensive compared to painting. However painting doesn’t have much expenses example a professional roller $5 handle $20 brush $15 and you can charge like $10,000 to paint a whole apartment here in NYC

Based on my experience in the SF Bay area, I would say licensed plumbing and electrical contractors charge the highest hourly rate.

Actually BuildZoom just did a study on this which was reported in the WSJ, and it turns out Elevator Installers & Repairers make the most nationally with a median annual income of $80,000. The next highest paid profession was supervisors with $58,000. In LA it looks like Construction and Building Inspectors make the most ($80K), and in San Francisco, Inspectors and Supervisors both come in at #1 with $80K annual salary.

You can read the study here Construction Wages: Who makes the most and where? and check your city’s rankings
