What's your opinion on Hybrid Electric water heaters?

Seems like most of the enrgy star water heaters just aren’t worth the hassel. I have noticed a higher callback rate on power vent and tankless units when compared to a traditional atmospheric vent water heater.

Hybrid electric tanks are suppose to be the next big thing for electric water heaters. Have any of you plumbers or contractors had much experience with these units and does anybody actually report the energy savings they claim?

I prefere gas water heaters. I honestly believe they are more efficiant, they cost less to opperate, and you get a quicker return on investerment v.s an electric.
