What's your preferred material for building retaining walls?

Here in Hawaii we’ve used Lava Rocks for mostly all the retaining walls that we’ve built. It’s pretty solid and holds up nicely. The only time we don’t use it is when the home owner wants something different. But we usually recommend Lava Rocks.

Wish Florida had lava rock. However, I prefer strength and proper drainage. Reinforced structural concrete mix. Don’t want to have to rebuild it after 15 years. You can cover it with rock etc.
