When demoing a kitchen, which materials should I save for salvage?

Cabinets or countertops as long as they’re in decent shape and not completely outdated. They make great garage cabinets or you can donate them to your local Habitat For Humanity or similar organization. Usually things like plumbing or electrical wiring can’t be re-used and plumbers and electricians consider it too much hassle to make the salvaged supplies work.

Hello Alex,

Saving existing sinks, countertops (if possible) and cabinets is always a great idea. These can be sold to offset the cost of your remodel or can be donated to places such as Habitats for Humanity to be used in the homes they build for those in need.

It’s best to save more than you want, you can always throw it away when your all finished. It’s difficult to go digging threw the dumpster for that one part you need…

Always save the sink and plumbing connections. You never know when you need something special to get the install completed.

It’s always great to save cabinets, places like Habitats for Humanity will pick them up to be installed in homes they build for less privileged families.

Kitchen cabinets and countertops can be salvaged and can be assigned a value that can be offset with the demo company.
