Most people have seen the commercials showing a steam cleaner sanitizing, disinfecting, deodorizing, and cleaning a wood floor. But that doesn’t mean that wood flooring manufacturers or finish manufacturers think steam cleaners are appropriate for a wood floor. Using a steam mop will result in finish peeling, whitening finish and cloudy finish, wood cupping, these are just some of the side effects after steam cleaning.
Any type of wood flooring does not like water , The more you saturate it the more problems you will have. I recommend wipe your floor down with a mild detergent and towel dry.
In my opinion, these steam type cleaners always make the floor look dull and hazy. I have not seen one “cup floors” or anything to that extent, but they don’t help the appearance of the floor.
EXACTLY THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO TO A FLOOR IS ADD MOISTER. iT CAN CAUSE CUPPING AND DISCOLORATION. THE BEST STUFF TO CLEAN YOUR FLOORS WITH IS CAP OF VINEGER MIX WITH WATER WITH A MOP THEN DRY IT QUICKLY WITH A DRY RAG.
