Every day, BuildZoom adds tens of thousands of new building permits from around the country into our database. For this week’s BuildZoom Picks, we’ve rounded up five construction projects that piqued our interest from over 300,000 new permits.
1) Adidas Plans Makeover for Portland Office

While many brands in the retail and sportswear industries are struggling, Adidas has shown strong growth in North America (26% in the last quarter) and has more than doubled its workforce at its US headquarters in Portland over the last 3 years. A permit was filed in late September to renovate the entire 6th floor of Adidas’ newly leased office space at Montgomery Park on 2701 N.W. Vaughn St. The permit, valued at $9M, includes the addition of new walls to create product display rooms, mock shops, office spaces, conference rooms, a reception area, and a lounge/bar.

5) United’s New $75 Million Hangar at Bush Intercontinental

United Airline’s Technical Operations Center (UTOC) has been issued two building permits for new infrastructure at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. A $60 million permit details a new maintenance hangar, while another $15 million will be allocated for a United taxi-lane and apron (the area where aircraft are parked, unloaded, refueled or boarded). The new facilities will help meet United’s expanding services, including daily flights between Houston and Havana, Cuba, and a new route to Sydney, Australia.
