In October of 2017, Disney announced plans to upgrade, improve, and add new parking to their Anaheim Disneyland resort. The ‘centerpiece’ of the project is an all-new, 6500-spot parking garage to be built atop the existing Pinocchio surface street lot adjacent to the Mickey and Friends garage.
On May 11, permits were issued to begin construction on the new ‘Cleo Parking Structure,’ to be located at 1351 South Disneyland Drive. Using BuildZoom’s National Permit Database, we are able to explore the scope of the project in greater depth. According to the permits, the Disneyland Resort will gain a 2.3 million square foot parking garage, spread over six stories, named for Geppetto’s goldfish Cleo from the Pinocchio movie. The entire project is valued at $100 million, and will also include 5.1K square feet of office and restroom facilities, and an additional 88.8K square foot transportation terminal.
The permit description, as provided by the Anaheim Planning and Building Department, was published as follows:
“Disney – cleo parking structure – new commercial parking structure: 6 story 2, 320, 880 s.ft parking structure and 5, 120 s.ft (b occ) core/shell office/restrooms and 88, 832 s.ft (a2 occ) transportation terminals with new utilities to feed building. 14, 000 s.ft (18) canopies. (91) light poles on roof.”
