Brown & Brown added a bedroom and bathroom to an opulent waterfront home worth over $2M in Coral Gables’ exclusive Gables by the Sea. The new addition was designed and constructed to match the interior and exterior finishes on the nearly 4,000-square-foot four-bed and three-bath home.

Ikon Construction Group gave this Miami Beach estate a much-needed facelift.  Originally built in the early 1900s, the residence had a castle-like design that was not in keeping with the desires of the current owners. The brief was to totally transform the home’s exterior into an ultra modern Miami-style mansion while maintaining its structural integrity. Ikon implemented the construction of symmetrical design elements and straight lines that created a more spacious and contemporary  interior. They also expanded the doorways, hallways, and windows to better feed light into the home.

Teaming up with Alena Capra of Alena Capra Designs, Ikon Construction Group remodeled the Ritz Carlton condo in Coconut Grove using a contemporary blueprint combined with a palette of balanced and warm earth tones. The renovation had the effect of seeming to drastically increase the condo’s space.

Plaza Construction worked with Clodagh Design Studio to complete an interior and exterior renovation of a Miami Beach waterfront estate. A Spanish-style home in need of contemporary upgrades, the project presented unique design and build challenges. Plaza added value engineering to the original plans, executing a flawless design under the client’s budget. The exterior refresh included a marble water feature addition to the courtyard and renovation of a traditional colonnade, joining the indoor and outdoor living spaces. Inside, original archways balance new contemporary lines in the main living space. A black soffit ceiling is an eye-catching meld of the home’s twin aesthetics. The project was completed in phases devised by Plaza to allow the homeowners to live comfortably in their space while the contractors worked.

3) Wahab Construction

818 SW 4th Ave Miami FL 33130

Specializing in high-end, complex residential and commercial projects for the South Florida market, Walid Wahab founded his general contracting and construction management firm in 1992. A boutique business, the firm takes on only a few projects at a time, a philosophical choice that adds value for his celebrity and generally high-net-worth clientele. Wahab Construction teamed up with landscape designer Edwina Von Gal and New York architect John Keenen of Keenen/Riley to completely renovate a modern 1950s island home in Biscayne Bay, a project featured in House & Garden. From crumbling beginnings a contemporary compound emerged that is at once intimate and daring. The entryway to the waterfront residence is shadowed by tall bamboo and, as one moves through the house, the light bouncing off the water and into the home creates a lasting impression. The architecture itself is planar—strong, clear lines—but curved elements were added to give warmth and echo the home’s natural surroundings. For example, the master bedroom features sharp rectangular windows and framed art boxes while a curved wall made of American walnut protrudes into the room, partially enclosing the en suite bathroom.

2) MV Group

1200 Brickell Ave. Suite 600 Miami FL 33131

He has been named Top 100 Entrepreneurs in the nation and his firm is one of the fastest growing Hispanic businesses nationwide. MV Group’s work has been featured on CNN, The Miami Herald, and The Real Deal.

In the kitchen, MV Group fabricated and hung custom cabinetry cladding and cut the perfect marble slab for the stunning waterfall-edge island. The painstakingly applied glass-tile backsplash plays off of the shimmer of the ocean view.  The Master Suite received an entirely new en suite bath, while the main living space now features an architectural media wall, motorized window treatments, and distinctive lighting features. MV Group has since designed and built close to 20 units, or 50,000 square feet, in Paramount Bay Tower, having earned contracts from the apartments’ individual owners.

Capponi Shear Construction remodeled the Miami Beach home of acclaimed director Michael Bay. Bay also enlisted Architect Chad Oppenheim, the home’s original designer. The 17,000-square-foot house, which was once the home of wrestler Hulk Hogan, was reconfigured inside and out. Through the shimmering white stone entryway you’ll find a guest wing, separated from the main house by an interior courtyard and a stone path through a reflecting pool. A necessity for one of the highest-grossing directors worldwide, the indoor squash court became a top-of-the-line screening room. The Master bath saw the most extensive renovation. It now features an oversized cast-concrete tub and two spa showers separated by an etched-stone tile wall. The main stairwell now features a custom ceiling-to-floor light sculpture, comprised of hand blown-crystal pendants, designed by Alison Berger. The remodeled home was featured in Elle Decor.

Want a custom contractor shortlist for your next remodel?

It’s very easy, simply fill in some basic details on this page?utm_source=[insert_php] $v = (empty($_GET[‘utm_source’])) ? ‘buildzoom’ : $_GET[‘utm_source’]; echo $v; [/insert_php]&utm_medium=[insert_php] $v = (empty($_GET[‘utm_medium’])) ? ‘direct’ : $_GET[‘utm_medium’]; echo $v; [/insert_php]&utm_campaign=[insert_php] $v = (empty($_GET[‘utm_campaign’])) ? ‘blog’ : $_GET[‘utm_campaign’]; echo $v; [/insert_php]&utm_term=[insert_php] $v = (empty($_GET[‘utm_term’])) ? ‘miamiremodeler’ : $_GET[‘utm_term’]; echo $v; [/insert_php]&utm_content=[insert_php] $v = (empty($_GET[‘utm_content’])) ? ‘thispage’ : $_GET[‘utm_content’]; echo $v; [/insert_php]”>this page and we’ll do all the heavy lifting for you. It takes under 1 minute.

Otherwise, this is how to ensure you choose the right Remodeling Contractor

If you haven’t used an architect or interior designer, when choosing a contractor to lead your remodeling process, we recommend to follow a few of these golden rules as a minimum. Note that we’ve used a lot more to curate the list above, than what we’ve listed below, but it should guide as a rough minimum starting point.

Ask for Referrals and read customer reviews

Online reviews shouldn’t be your only definitive gauge of what to expect for your project. Word of mouth is a powerful way to find a qualified professional to tackle any job. Friends, family and neighboring residents are great sources of opinion, especially if their project has been finished recently and it was a similar project. However, the problem is that often your needs are slightly different to someone else’s and every project has its unique challenges. Online customer reviews can also be optimized by certain platforms to paint a rosier picture than reality.

Look for Credentials

Next you should do some preliminary research. Before BuildZoom, you would have had to visit their website, check licensing boards, check permits, look at reviews on Yelp and check any industry awards. Luckily, we aggregate all this data on our contractor profile pages. We use this to develop an independent, accurate score that will give you a good idea of what to expect.

Interview Candidates

Once you have a shortlist of contractors, you then approach them and contact them directly. This is the time where you ask questions, not answered elsewhere. For example, “When was the last time you had an negative experience with a customer’s project and what were the reasons”. “What happens if a project schedule that we have agreed upon is exceeded”. Again, if you used BuildZoom, we can curate a contractor shortlist and they come back to you with offers saving you considerable time. These are all pre-vetted meaning a lot of the groundwork is done for you already.

Check References

Next you should investigate some of the past projects. Look at image galleries and ask to physically see some of the projects if it’s a high risk endeavor. Ask for examples of how the contractor overcame problems or issues with the customer. A large component of the overall project is the service once the materials have been agreed upon. Most issues that may arise will involve this service component, not the product materials used.
