By Tim W.January 11, 2020Furnace replacement
I had no heat and it was 3:00 A.M. on a Sunday. the house was already at 39 degrees. I was in a panic. I called A 1 Heating and Air conditioning co. because they said they had 24 hour service, to my surprise a service technician answered the phone and was at my house in less then 40 minutes. We had a cracked heat exchanger that made the fire roll out and melt the gas valve. We had no chose but to get a new furnace. I thought we have to wait until at least Monday. To my surprise by 8:00 A.M that dat A 1 had two heating at our house with a brand new furnace and it was installed for only $2,500.00. I thought they would of took advantage of us because we were in a emergency situation. they did not we also got a ten year guarantee on all parts and labor. I had service on this furnace in the past and all companies all wanted over $ 3,000.00 to replace this furnace. I got a great deal From A 1 and to said I am 100% scarified is a understatement these people are nice and friendly and do not take advantage of anyone no matter what the situation is.

If you are confused and frustrated as to which company to choose for your heating and cooling needs, please read this. Our latest 22 year old central air conditioner died 3 years ago. I naturally called the company we had been with for 60 years with several furnaces and A.C. units. They had now merged with another company and apparently did not care about 60 years of loyal patronage. After many weeks, they gave us a quote and we figured it was fair because we had been with them for so long. We had spent the next 2 years saving for the new unit. Something told me to call other companies and get quotes to see what was out there.
So I researched brands and the companies who install and service them. I got at least 10 quotes all of which were at least ½ the price of Mitchells /One hour. I did more researching to figure out how could there be such disparities. I found that all of various brands there is only about 3 major ac manufacturers that sell under many different names to capture the market. Then I found that the bigger the company names the bigger the price. Because you have to pay for the receptionist, office staff estimators, service people, fancy trucks, uniforms and advertising.
So then I started looking at independent installers that weren’t part of large chains. I found the best pricing with the same warranties as the chains. I had quotes from this group and found that the person that is giving you the price is the same one that would install and service the unit and usually the owner of the company. This gives you an honest read of the people you hire. You can believe what they are saying because they don’t want to sell you a unit that they to keep coming out to fix.
Which leads me to Tim West of Any Heating and Cooling. He came out the next day explained everything in very plain understandable terms and confirmed my research. He is licensed and insured and has run his business for decades. He was professional, personable and did not talk down to us. He was among the lowest priced but not the lowest. He did not try to upsell us. What he did different was provide a ten year guarantee on the unit, parts AND LABOR. With all of the other quotes it was one year parts and labor with one company offering 2years. I then ran into some trusted friends who had used him for their home and business for years and were very satisfied.
Tim explained like this. It is easy to offer 10 years labor because he is doing the installation, servicing and checkups so if everything is done correctly there won’t be any issues. That shows pride in his work and confidence in his product. Tim and Mike came out when they said they would within 2 days in peak season performed the installation, removed the old unit, cleaned up, explained everything simply and took the time to make sure you understood everything. They did not take the money and run. And they take all major credit cards. We had a cool house within hours and the 4 ton 13 seer Ducane unit is very quiet and had a smaller nicer looking footprint from the previous Bryant Unit. They update some things on my existing furnace and did not charge extra.
I know it’s only been a few days but I am so pleased that I went with them and feel very sure they will be there for us in the future with any of our heating and cooling needs. I will update at season end and in future years. I hope this helps.
