Hired A&A to do a major remodeling of a home. We are almost two years into the project (was supposed to be one). We are still awaiting completion of items we have paid for months ago. We had a lien put against the property because A&A wasn't paying vendors. We had delays because A&A did not pay subcontractors even though we had paid A&A. We have found construction mistakes of not following the blue-print. A&A has mislead us on costs and schedule. Quality of work at best - average.

We built a new home this last year. When it came time to install interior finish trim and shelving we hired A&A Construction. I went over all of the details with Briggs. He left me feeling confident that they would do a great job. They started out good doing base and case mouldings. We have two rooms with crown moulding, this was done poorly (gaps at the joints, miss matched ends) this was all paint grade trim. Then we got to the shelving in the closets, this was all to be stain grade/clear coat. We purchased cabinet grade pine plywood and pine boards for this. The craftsman ship on this was terrible,
1/4"+ gaps, splintered ends and edges. Places that should have had pine trim, they used some of the baseboard trim which is poplar (it has a greenish color to it), not even close to matching the pine. I called Briggs (the owner of A&A) to come look at what was being done. I told him there is no way we can clear coat that kind of work. He offered to change a couple pieces of trim out but that was it. So needless to say I finished the shelving.
Once we were ready to finish paint the interior trim, I was having a hard time finding a finish painter that could get started right away. Briggs tells me he has this awesome finish painter, (make it look like glass he says) so we agreed on a price and time frame to do the work. (two weeks) His guy had one excuse after another for not making it to work, jump ahead to week five of a two week project and the guy doesn't even have the caulking finished which was supposed to be done on week one and just making a mess. I contacted Briggs and told him we wanted him out. That has been three months ago. We paid Briggs $3700.00 up front ( 1/2 down). Briggs and I agreed that even though his guy did a poor job, he did do some work so we agreed that I would be refunded $3,000.00. Zero of which I have received yet. Briggs no longer takes my phone calls or answers my text messages. (I guess it's time for legal action). We did find an outstanding contractor to come fix/finish the mess. Honey Do Painting did an outstanding job of cleaning up the caulking mess and paint. Thanks to Joe and his crew who showed up every day and worked at least 8-10 hours every day to get us back on track. True professionals that take care and pride in everything they do!
Do yourself a favor and call Joe at Honey Do Painting (208) 699-1790 and tell him Ron McMillan sent you. -

I spoke with Briggs Anderson in January of this year & received a quote for a 16'x 24' garage addition. After review of several quotes, I hired Briggs and he received a payment of $2,500.00.
On March 27, 2019, I emailed Briggs that all of the snow was gone and I wanted to be placed on his schedule. He emailed me stating the job would start around the 3rd week of April and for ME to contact Digline - which I did. On April 12th, he emailed that the drawing for the garage addition were being submitted for the permit.
After many emails back and forth, Briggs arrived on June 19th (2 months later) to dig footings. Footings were finally poured, stem walls were completed and poured, and the foundation was poured on July 15th.
Prior to the foundation concrete pour, I asked Briggs about inspections, as I had not observed an inspector onsite. He emailed, stating it was such a small job that he did not pull a permit. THE DRAWINGS AND PERMIT WAS #1 LINE ITEM ON THE JOB QUOTE. I inquired with Kootenai County and found that a permit WAS required!
On July 16th, after the foundation concrete pour, I notified Briggs that NO more work is to be done until a permit is onsite. Much to my surprise, building materials were delivered on this same date! Briggs texted me if the material had arrived, which it did, and asked me if I had tarps to cover the material - which I did not have any. I advised him of this and he stated he would have someone come and cover the material to shield it from the weather.
On July 20th, I was invoiced by Briggs for $7,200.00 for earthwork, concrete and building materials - which I promptly paid.
After many emails back and forth, the permit was FINALLY approved on SEPTEMBER 4th (Permit #RES19-0709). On the same date, I advised Briggs that the permit was approved and he needed to pay the fees so that he could resume the project. He stated he is finishing up a project and I was next on the list.
After several emails about having someone cover the materials that are sitting in my driveway, which he stated 3 different time that he would send someone to cover it, the material remains uncovered and is now damaged - due to the weather. 4x8 sheets of OSB have been damaged by rain & snow. The laminated garage door header beam is now twisted, along with lumber that is also twisted due to the weather.
On September 10th, I emailed Briggs as to when he would resume the job. He again stated that he was finishing up a project and that I was next on the list.
On November 2nd, I again emailed Briggs to find out when he was going to resume the project, since I have already paid him a total of $9,700.00. I also told him that I have been VERY patient and asked him to refund me $5,00.00 and I would relieve him from his contract - so I could hire another contractor. Briggs responded that he regrets the delays and would check on it, and would notify me of his findings.
As of this date, November 18, 2019, I only have a foundation for a garage addition and unusable material that sits in my driveway.
I WOULD NOT recommend A&A Construction Services, LLC, as they are NOT reputable. Briggs has been untruthful in every aspect related to the project. He tried to push the job through, without a permit and became angry when confronted about it - putting my job on permanent delay & ignore.

Our experience with Briggs Anderson has been horrible.
From before we accepted the contract, Briggs knew that we needed a building permit for not on the country, but our HOA. I have multiple emails, texts, and handwritten notes documenting when I have asked about the permit. Briggs would always say "I am working on the plans", "I forgot to email you the plans" but when it came down to it, he had not even started the engineering plans when I put my foot down in early July (our project started in March).
Beyond his dishonesty about the building permit, Briggs and his crew:
- Dug a trench for electrical and laid the wrong type cable as well as inside Cat 5 cable and then backfilled 1/2 of the trench before I went out there and stopped them. He also did not put conduit in the trench as I originally requested and he never had an actual electrician on site, his excavator guy did the cable.
- Cleared out the pad for what was originally a stick frame building with a foundation and mid project decided that he wanted to do a pole barn without discussing that decision with me. Beyond that, he put in 12 inch sonotubes that would not have passed inspection. (another clue he never intended to get the permit). He had to try and use an auger to put the sonotubes in AFTER he had already laid gravel on the pad. The pad was also never leveled properly. - Nearly every aspect of this job has gone wrong and I have been left with a partially demolished garage as well as exposed electrical cable laying on the ground that feeds the garage.
The biggest issue is that Briggs promised that he would get a building permit, he told me that he was working on plans, and he lied to me saying that he had sent the plans when I saw him days later drawing the same plans he sent me. In his plans, he stated that he needed to use 24 inch sonotubes and he has not been able to answer me why he instead put in 12 inch sonotubes that would not have passed inspection. I could go into so much greater detail, but hopefully whoever reads this will get the point.
It is my opinion that Briggs is untrustworthy.
