Last year we purchased our fixer upper on 2.5 acres and were ready to start our new adventure on the farm and home repairs. We quickly found ourselves in over our heads with no working shower. As we aren't from here and don't know many people my husband went to work and asked around to find a good contractor. Luckily, we found someone honest, efficient and who could help us but we had to wait over a month for his schedule to open up. That was fun. Our dry rot shower repair was a success and I really enjoyed all the workers that came thru.
When it came time for a fun repair "The Barn" naturally I contacted our previous contractor. The barn is space that we are slowly converting from an actual stinky barn to more of a Great Room hang out fun space. First step in preserving our rotting barn is the roof. This roof is very steep. So steep our previous contractor referred us to Edgurr, at A & E Construction Services, LLC. I have a lot of respect for someone who can say "I can do this, but I believe my competitor is a better fit"
I approached this with, we only have X amount to dump on the barn and how fare can we go? I spent a lot of time talking with him about the barn, our vision and finances. Part way thru roof demo, he pointed out we would be wasting $$ the way I have planned and maybe we can explore spending a little more now but saving in the long run. What spending smarter!?! This is exactly what I needed as I don't know construction or what projects cost. This isn't baking cookies or buying a car.
Edgurr was transparent thru out our project. Normally, I do an online research of reviews before hiring people in the service industry and another review talked about him being more than other bids. I saw no need to seek out additional information (online reviews or bids) as he was referred to me by another contractor, one whom I was already prepared to hire. He obviously knows what he's doing to have respect with in his trade. I'd rather pay for experience now than hire the more affordable guy who's work may need to be fixed later. No Thank You. I don't have time for that. I know in service you get what you pay for and I need this done smart and cost effective. My only complaint (come on there's always something) would be with his supplier. He could have been a bit more professional in meeting delivery dates but that's no reflection on A & E Construction Services, LLC.
