We were told about A & M Pools by a friend of ours. We called since we needed to have our pool re-plastered. We called and met the friendliest guy named Jim, the owner. Jim came out and was courteous and friendly throughout the process of signing our contract. He was always available to either text or talk on the phone regarding the entire process. He always returned our calls or texts no matter what.
The day came to drain the pool and then jackhammer the plaster off. They became busy and our pool sat jackhammered for nine plus days. No big deal we were not in the swim season so outside of not being able to use our spa we did not mind. This is the first time we have had a re-plaster done on our pool, so we are novice to the process.
After that the crew came in and fixed a hand full of tiles but forgot to fix the ones above the skimmer and plastered the pool anyway. They came in the following day and started to fill our pool and over night it was just about full. They came back and fixed the tiles above the skimmer and dropped concrete on the bottom of the freshly plastered pool leaving a permanent chunk of concrete on our floor. There was one other area that they dropped concrete on and it now is a raised and rough section right on one of the sitting steps in our pool.
Among other things we noticed was that our pool light and spa light which both worked perfectly not were flooded with water and do not turn on. This will be a four digit fix and Jim claimed that it is not his responsibility. Another thing we noticed was that the pool floor and walls were very patchy. We paid extra to have blue coloring added to the plaster to give it that Caribbean look. However, when they mixed the barrels of plaster some mixed better than others. It is extremely patchy with darker blue sections to white sections all over the pool. Not as pretty to look at as the picture Jim showed of other jobs. Needless to say we are not overly pleased with the job.
We are particularly upset about the lights and so we called a pool man up and he came in and told us that sometimes the seals crack when the pool is emptied but then told us when they drained the pool did they put the lights in a bucket of water? We said no to that they just remained where they were. He told us every pool contractor he works with always takes the light and submerges them in water just to prevent the seal from drying and cracking. Our pool was drained and by the time we had filled it again it was exposed to the sun for 11 consecutive days. No wonder the pool light gaskets cracked. Poor business practice to say the least.
Now when we call Jim he ignores our text and phone calls. Nothing we can do to get him to come out and fix the lights, concrete in the pool, nor the blotchy patches of blue and white. We are at a loss and do not know where to turn.
We are writing this complaint and review so that others do not get mistreated or ripped off as we did. This is close to 10K that we spend alone and after repairing the lights we will be over 10K. Do not use A & M Pools and don't fall for Grandpa Jim and his sweet words.
