I contracted with A Notch Above Contracting to build a pool to be built by Spring 2022. After numerous delays due to dishonest conduct, the work was completed while in default. I knew Brandon socially prior to. I would not be writing a review except Brandon had his license revoked and continues working. Hoping others will read this and avoid the pains I experienced.
Any contract dates provided are a suggestion vs contractual obligation. Throughout the project, he would do just enough to hit contract payment milestones, then work would pause for extended periods of time. This was blatant with starting the pool dig to get the payment. It took 3 weeks to finish.
Take what is said by Brandon with a grain of salt. My favorite: told the water is scheduled to be in the pool by Jun 14. I found out on Jun 29 the auto cover tracks were on back order. Not sure how he planned to have water in the pool without the parts.
Check milestones are completed prior to paying. Received multiple invoices for work that was not complete. The backfill had 3 of the 4 sides completed. The pool pump had 1 of 2 pumps installed. Electrical milestone invoice submitted, not completed.
The first default notice was negotiated in bad faith by Brandon. He agreed to a completion date of Aug 30. He had no intention of making the date and ordered the pool auto cover Sep 6.
Second default: There was a requirement to confirm he was certified to install the auto cover without voiding the manufacturer’s warranty and daily penalties. Brandon provided proof but found out the “proof” was from a reseller and not valid. The improper installation voided the warranty.
Do your due diligence. He flies hot when asked for direct answers, lacks a moral compass, honesty and integrity to entrust with projects in my opinion. Ask yourself why reviews are not available on Facebook for a business that has been around for many years. If he will treat someone he knows like this, how would he treat someone that he does not?
