A Reliable Craftsmen/Curtis Batiste was paid to level and install 1700 square feet of porcelain tile. The project was never completed and what was done was so terrible, I will be spending more than I paid him to pull up the floor. For some reason, he tried leveling a plywood subfloor with sand rather than a water based self-leveling compound. None of the tile is level or flat, its like walking on a hill. The bad work is visible to the naked eye even before using a leveler, which confirmed the eye. He boasts about being a black owned company and in the union but robbed another black owned business.

This company was recommeded through Home Depot to stabilize my front porch iron rails. The owner Curtis came out and placed cement in the bottom of each rail and said to let them cure for 30 days. 30 days later the rails are still unstable, and when asked what additional work needs to be done to correct problem, Curtis asked for additional money for a job he had already gotten paid for. The owner of the property that hired Curtis is Blind, so Curtis took advantage in this situation. If a zero can be given, that would be what he would earn.

Today, A-Reliable Craftsmen has finished a project in our home that included under mount cabinetry lighting, baseboard staining, quarter round trim around washroom vanity, ventilation cover replacement,
and sanding and painting a small portion of a wall to match the surrounding wall. These were small projects to finalize our kitchen and washroom remodel. Curtis has done work in our home over the last 20+ years. He is very conscientious about things being done correctly and returning to fix them if they are not. Curtis has a couple of people that he uses consistently. However, like any independent business, there is attrition and employees move on. For large projects, he is not above hiring workers with his comparable experience and skills to assist him.
Recently, my mom had several electrical outlets in her home that were no longer working. Curtis did a courtesy call on a Saturday to assess the problem. He was able to get everything working, but determined the cause of the shortages. Thereafter, he arranged for his electrician to go to her house early the following Saturday to do the necessary repairs. We are pleased with his work and will continue to be long term customers.
