A Talbot Construction Group

We entered into a contract with A. Talbot Construction Group on 10/28/2015 to do the following:
1. Close off our Living room with a French door (Completed)
2. Remove popcorn ceilings and put in crown molding in our guest bedroom (Completed)
3. Put built-in shelves, window seat in daughter's room, with paneling, picture rail and restructure closet (Never Completed - after multiple deadlines). Daughter was 4 mo at the start of project and is now 11 mo old.
4. Convert our Garage into a daylight basement (Never Completed - after multiple deadlines).

We hired Mark through HomeAdvisor, even vetted him and checked up on references. He started off strong, but could never meet deadlines. Every time we turned around he was asking for additional money for efforts which we paid in full, but months and months dragged on and the work was never completed.

We were met with excuse after excuse (e.g.: he over slept, car broke down, having financial troubles, etc.) We did our best to work with im as we wanted to see the project completed, but he was never able to meet any deadline.

We were charged $1k for a custom window which he installed broken. My husband assisted him when the install but when it was discovered that the window was broken, it took Mark 4 months to act on replacing it. It wasn't until we created a final punch list that he actually took action to replace the broken window which he claimed he needed multiple people to help him. When my husband said he would help - he said no, his insurance wouldn't cover him (er-um, then why did he allow him to install the window the first time - and our home owner insurance covers us on this - it made ZERO sense).

Mark spent a whole day running around town trying to return this window - which he forgot was custom ordered and claimed he picked up off the shelf at Home Depot. None of this sounded logical.

We asked him to finish the drywall in our garage - to which he screwed puzzle pieced parts of dry wall up and said taping and mudding was not part of the dry wall process. HomeAdvisor even knew that was questionable.

It was when Mark threatened us with legal action because we had had enough of him stringing the project out in hopes of what appeared to squeeze more money out of us (otherwise why didn't he finish the project in Dec 2015 or Jan 2016).

$30k later with our daughters room remains incomplete and our garage conversion unsafe with shoddy drywall and dangerous for our toddlers to play in - we had to resort to bringing in another contractor to fix the drywall and finish the trim, shelves and wood work in our daughters room as we did not feel comfortable working with him after his threats of legal action.

Beware of working with this business. More than happy to share photos and videos of what Mark Talbot calls finished drywall.
