This is a 77 year old grandmother writing this review. I live alone.
This is my advice concerning this company.Read the A-1 contract carefully.
Steve and Kris wrote up an initial contract for a concrete block chimney.
I put down half of the cost.
Then, after thinking about it, I asked for a brick chimney, but Steve and Kris said it would be too expensive, quoting another $1,000. When, the chimney was finished, it was raw concrete. They insisted that this was what was in their contract. A concrete block chimney.They were right.To get a skim coat of concrete and water proofing, the cost was an extra $500, half of their quote for a brick chimney on top of their original price. I probably have the only concrete block chimney in East Orange, and surely the only one in Glen Ridge. I pay my water bill in Glen Ridge. In Glen Ridge by town rules, I could not have had a concrete chimney. I would have had to have a brick chimney, the same as I already had.
If you have questions about the A-1 contract, ask them. It did not occur to me that my contract was for raw concrete, with no water proofing or finish coat. Make sure to ask all your questions before you put down a deposit. And do not pay the whole amount up front, before the final inspection, as I did, reserving only the extra $500 for after the inspection.
I am a 77 year old grandmother who lives alone. It is easy for me to be convinced to do something. I had already been scammed by another chimney person, so I thought I was in desperate situation. I actually was not. But I was very vulnerable.
Steve and Kris are polite and willing and fast workers.
You just need to know exactly what their contract entails.\

Mr. Smith and there team did a great job showed up on time was able to answer all concerns very intelligently. Did everything he said he would with EXTRA COAST. Mr. Smith was a pleasure to work with and his crew. The project was for 2 existing chimney and masonry repairs as per code! They addresses chimneys problems and work was complete at a high End! as a General Contractor we have recommend Mr. Steven Smith from Armor Construction for other projects. The only downfall is getting in touch with their office for repairs.

I have give him half of money for my home a roofing job. and after a month with material setting in front of my garage he has not even pay for a permit to get the job stared. after all I want all my money back to star looking for other contractor.

Great job showed up on time was able to answer all concerns very intelligently. Did everything he said he would AND MORE AT NO EXTRA COAST LEFT MY HOME SPOTLESS steve is a pleasure to work with his crew is also a bunch of wonderful guys ON TIME AND ON BUDGET my roof looks great chimney is a work of art unbelievable highly will recommend armor construction.
BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE STEVEN SMITH FROM A1 ARMOR CONSTRUCTION TO DO ANY WORK FOR YOU. HE TOOK A DEPOSIT OF $825 FROM US WHICH WAS HALF OF THE AMOUNT HE WAS GOING TO CHARGE US FOR MASONRY WORK AND HE BROUGHT TWO OF HIS WORKERS THE NEXT DAY TO DO SOME WORK AND NEVER RETURNED. HE HASN'T RESPONDED TO OUR CALLS OR TEXT MESSAGES. I HAVE REPORTED HIM TO THE BBB AND TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. HE LEFT MY HOUSE IN WORSE CONDITION. HE ALSO HAS MUTIPLE LISTINGS WITH DIFFERENT ADDRESSES. HE DOES THIS TO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO LOCATE HIM.
