This company does not even rate the one star, but this review could not be submitted without it. Definitely the worst company we've ever dealt with. Our AC unit quit working on Sunday, July 12. We submitted a claim to our home warranty company, First American. They assigned our claim to Able Contracting. A technician visited our home on Monday, July 13. After inspecting our unit, he determined we needed a new compressor and that they would have to submit a report to the warranty company for approval before ordering. He told us the report would be submitted either late that afternoon or early evening. The technician also told us we would not have to be home when the compressor was installed, that he could do so without coming in the house. A week went by and we heard nothing, despite attempting to call Able several times and leaving messages. We contacted our warranty company on Monday, July 20 only to discover that Able never submitted their report, even though it was a week later. First American then contacted Able, who later that day finally submitted the report. The request for repairs was approved and the compressor was ordered. The temperatures have been 95 degrees or higher a majority of the last week and a few days. We have had no AC and have been struggling to cool our home. We have had to borrow AC units from friends and purchase fans, in addition to the service fee we paid Able. There has been absolutely no sense of urgency with Able Contracting whatsoever. We understand the compressor had to be ordered, but the fact that they waited a full week and it took us having to beg our warranty company to push the issue for them to even submit their report is ridiculous. Relief could have been provided several days ago had Able held to their word and performed adequately. We have felt helpless and their lack of any sympathy or any common courtesy has been appalling. Today, July 23, we called Able and were finally able to get through (we have tried several times and left messages with no response). They advised that the compressor would be picked up tomorrow, July 24 and that they could come Monday sometime between noon and 4 p.m. They have not apologized for their incompetence, and when we told them waiting til Monday was unacceptable given all we had been through, they did not care and said they do not work weekends. They also said that someone would have to be home for the compressor to be replaced, which contradicts what the technician initially told us. So now, on top of everything else, we have to wait several more days and also have to take additional time off of work.We are very displeased and would never recommend anyone allow Able into their home. We will be sure to inform our warranty company to remove them immediately from any future claims or needs we may have.

By Char F.June 18, 2015Fix plumbing stoppage$150Worst company ever
They sent the same technician under my warranty contract twice. He failed to fix the issue and was too lazy to crawl under the house where the actual issue was. I'm out money on his incompetence and had a friend repaired the problem easily when he went under the house and found it. I had requested they not send the same technician the second time but they obviously ignore customer requests and complaints. The technician ultimately outright lied to the warranty company so he wouldn't have to come back and repair the problem.

I'm not sure who is worse, the warranty company or Able Contracting. I've been without a furnace for 3 weeks now. I've been fortunate enough to have a gas fireplace which is very expensive to use, but at least keeps the living room tolerable. My bedroom is freezing.
I called the warranty company who contacted Able Contracting. The technician came out and performed no repairs. The furnace kicked on when he was there, so he concluded that the issue was with having too many registers in the house closed. So he opened a few registers. I get home that evening and the furnace is still not working. I called the warranty company and the foreign person kept asking me if the problem was a new problem. I said no 4 times and tried to explain what happened. He kept telling me there would be another service fee if there was a new issue with the furnace. It honestly took about 1/2 hour for the warranty company person to say he would contact Able, but I would be without heat for 2 more days because of the weekend. I called the technician directly Friday night who walked me through troubleshooting the furnace. He said he thought it was likely the pressure switch was bad. Since this time I've heard nothing and it's Tuesday. I called the warranty people again, and just called Able again. I couldn't get anyone on the phone at Able and had to leave a message. I also tried contacting the technician directly who also did not answer the phone.
It would have been much less aggravating, and likely cheaper to have called/paid someone on my own to fix the furnace.
