By Julie K.August 24, 2020roof replacement (cedar shake to composition roof with decking)$25,000
Achten's Quality Roofing damaged our small toilet room ceiling in our master bathroom while our roof was open when they removed our old cedar shake roofing and black material underneath it. They refused to repair the damage. They accused us damaging it, so we hired a licensed inspector to check to see if there were further damages and also to support our claim. Justin Shirley insists that they don't assume any responsibility for damages of the interior of home due to removing or installation of roofing according to our contract according to his email. However, it wasn't incidental damage from removing or installation of roofing. It was from a crew stepping on the ceiling before they placed plywood decking. We tried to work with them and reached out to them numerous times by phone calls and emails. It is important for any professional businesses to take care of their customers with respect and with honest quality service. This company doesn't want to be responsible for their mistake. We are still waiting for them to respond to us and repair the damage. We will update our posting when they do.

WE had Achten's roofing reroof our house this spring. The roof was done very quickly. It looks nice. The only problems we has were a procedure they did didn't look good on our roof. After a few calls they came out and fixed it. The crew did not do a very good job of cleanup after the installation.

I have never posted an online review of anything before, but this company seems to invest quite a bit on television advertising, but not very much on following through with the message. They were actually recommended to me by the Roofing Contractor's Association of Washington specifically as a company that works on town homes.
After scheduling with Achten's for an inspection/estimate, I was concerned about workers during the heat wave, so I called to change my appointment. On their rescheduled appointment date (which was weeks later), the service person called to say he would be a half hour late. I then called him back when he didn't arrive after an hour at which time he said that he had already come to my home and left without ever calling or ringing the doorbell because he didn't have a tall enough ladder. We spoke for a while and tried to troubleshoot how he can work with my tall townhome, and he said he would start by checking google and/or some other app they have to get a birds-eye view of possible roof damage and then calling me back the following morning. I also phoned the office manager and she too said she would phone the following morning with more information.
Neither one did. So I just called one last time and the manager was not available to take the call.
It has now been about a month since I first contacted this company, I've had no actual contact with them other than missed appointments, but my confidence in their professionalism so far is quite low.
