Ed Stewart ended up sealing the pool/deck area after explaining the importance of repairing/fortifying the pool area first, which I appreciated as a new pool owner. The subcontractor he hired to do the work was very unprofessional, though, as after the first day I found multiple beer cans in my trash and was later contacted directly for a demand of cash payment by the sub . Ed took care of this, but it required additional subs to come to the house for estimates, which makes me worry about possible burglaries from additional potentially shady characters. In addition to the sub issue, Ed is going through a medical crisis, which delays quotes and work to have concrete deck/ patio extended. I'm not in any hurry, so I let him work when he is able, but some might find this irritating. The sealing of the pool area (concrete and drylock) was completed during multiple rain storms, so I asked to keep leftover materials in order to do patch jobs, just in case. I then had him come back and rip up outdoor carpet and Chattahoochee rock from the patio area. There was an additional charge for hauling the carpet, so I did that myself. The Chattahoochee rock pile was left in the yard to use later as filler to extend the deck area. It took some discussion to ensure he understood my vision for the patio as I did not see tiling the patio as an even remote option until after the concrete pours are done. Ed is currently having site visits with concrete subs to skim/ float the patio and tie in a new extension/pour of the deck, but has been delayed again due to illness. I feel for the guy, but I probably would not recommend him to my parents.
