Affordable Asphalt

I hired Sam from Affordable Asphalt on 9/24/19 and gave him an $8,000 deposit that day. He was supposed to complete the job within 5 calendar days. After over a month, nearly no work was completed. I asked for a refund. Sam refused. I asked him to finish the work and he stalled until mid December. Every week he promised he'd have someone there and every week he came up with a new excuse.

On 12/19/19, I finally had to get a new construction team to do the project. I wanted to put this behind me, so I offered Sam the option to just send me a partial refund on my deposit and avoid a legal battle. Sam texted me, "I'll see you in court".

I later found out that the minimal amount of work Sam actually did, was done totally wrong and had to be re-done.

Sam forced me to go thru all the legal proceedings (which took about a year). Judge finally issued me a judgement against Sam for $7,197.90. Sam has still not paid. Now I'll have to start legal proceedings for writs and liens against him and his business. Even if he pays today, it's already been over a year and I've spent hours with the courts.

If Sam does eventually pay voluntarily, I will update this review.

Sam at Affordable Asphalt is a thief. I asked him to do my driveway. He told me that the concrete precast basins were 1200 , when they sell for $400. I gave him a deposit and money for catch basins. He also said he would do a linear drain with concrete. He installed no concrete around linear drain. He threw the catch basins in half dug holes. The plastic pipes from catch basins go uphill !!! To drain the basin. After doing 5% work, he left. After construction has been allowed again, i have called and texted him multiple times. He did not pick up. I finally used another number and then he picked up. He said he will not come back to the job. After I paid him $5500 on $10500 job, he refuses to complete the job or return my money. SAM IS A REAL SHAMELESS THIEF!!!!!!

Affordable Asphalt pave my parking lot Their prices was a little higher than others Sam spoke a big game seem like he knew what he was talking about so we went ahead with using his Company everything he said he done very satisfied very professional crew couldn’t ask for more definitely recommend this company Sam is # 1 when it comes to paving

Sam was super nice when he came to price the job and to secure the job. He promised 9-10 parking spots in my driveway and he SAID he will put down 2 layers of 3" of material. He said yes to what I asked for and when the job started, him and his team started cutting corners.

They didnt put down 2 layers of material. Putting 2 layers down means laying 3" down going over with a roller and then put down another 3". This was never done. He only gave me 7 parking spots when we discussed 9-10. He squeezed in 8 and 1 of the spots is not usable. His response was the amount of parking spots was never in the contract. I guess a verbal communication about the job doesnt mean anything to Sam.

He also threatened me and threatened to burn my house down and rip up my driveway bc I accidentally gave him a check from an old account. This was a honest mistake on my end and I informed Sam about it before the bank told him.

Please use someone else as Sam may or may not do the right job. After getting to know Sam, doing the right job will only depends on how much profit he is making.

Final note, I asked Sam to come and fix the driveway to have 8 parking spots. He agreed and after trying to schedule the repair for about a week he went MIA and never responded. Still waiting after 2-3weeks.

Very satisfied with the driveway Sam was very good to work for highly recommend it
