Remodel the kitchen, den, and add a master bedroom and bath by adding onto the house
    $210,000

Not trustworthy. A Metro Construction list a Tony J Fisher as owner and listed the phone number of (512) 964-4081. This number is that of Raul S Salcedo, Jr. (aka JR) with whom when my wife asked if he was Tony, he stated he “represented” Tony Fisher. Some of the subcontracted employees stated he told them he “was” Tony.
As to the remodel, JR never took our ideas on what we would like regarding the interior and exterior of the house, including color, flooring, etc. Instead, JR ran with his own ideas with little input from us. One major issue was removing the wall separating the kitchen from the den to change how the kitchen floorplan would be set up. I stated to JR that the wall he wanted to remove was originally the back outside wall and was a load bearing wall. JR because it was originally the back outside wall when the house was originally built in 1964 but was remodeled in 1973; JR disagreed by saying it was not a load bearing wall. Once the wall in question was removed, the Framer stated in fact the removed wall was load bearing. This error by JR required more bracing and increased our costs by his mistake.
When asked for invoices for expenses, JR said he doesn’t provide those because “it was too much work for him and that he just doesn’t do that”. We had the right for those documents; even ZoomBuild employees on Zoom calls with us stated “we” (me and my wife) had the right to request and receive those documents to verify cost and expense. The replacement of the roof, JR stated the roof cost an additional $10,000 increase in expense outside the total cost from the original bid given by JR and contract signed.
Another issue that showed JR was not trustworthy: We had requested a mini-split AC/Heater with Heat plump unit for the new addition. JR tried to off a basic $125 window AC unit (with no heater) as the Mini-split. I had another remodel company put in an actual Mini-split, and the out-of-pocket cost for me was $5000.00. This company AND another remodeling company stated JR/A Metro Construction overcharged us between $72,000--$75,000 and would have provided new material for the remodel instead of reusing material from my house.
Another issue was the electrical and plumbing. I had to have another electric company redo and add plugs, lights, and even put required GFCI Plugs for outside AND places near water (i.e. sinks and bathtubs) as required by State Code.
A major issue is where the new addition’s roofs “tie-in” from the new roof to the old roof leaks into the new addition room where now I am having to have the sheet rock replaced.
There are other minor issues that were not resolved, nor JR didn’t adhere to the signed contract where any changes made “required” an amendment to the contract listing those changes and possible cost and would be signed by both parties. This was never done. In fact, as per the signed contract, the remodel would be completed 100 days from the date on the contract of the agreement date on the contract of March 22, 2022, which would place the completion by June 30, 2022. The job hadn’t been completed through the month of July 2022 so around August 1, 2022, when my wife informed JR that this Cash Cow isn’t paying any more money until the job is complete to our approval. JR basically had his 2 employees to quickly finish as cheap as possible and then pulled his employees for another job. At that point, we informed JR that both he and A Metro Construction were in breach of the signed contract. JR threatened legal action which he never did, as we have been in contact with lawyers.

Having one’s personal home remodel can be stressful for anyone. Making it even more stressful is the fact Raul “JR” Salcedo mislead and cheated us as listed above all the while I was dealing with cancer myself along with taking advantage of my wife because she’s a female, by misleading us during an even more stressful time with both the remodel job and treatment for cancer.
We are currently making the repairs ourselves, and/or hiring other contractors to make the correction, which is adding even more cost to this project.
