I hired ALEGO CONSTRUCTION (also known as Alsander construction Co.) to replace the roof in my property for a value of $14,200 on 5/3/2022.
The work was performed between 5/17/ - 5/24, 2022. Alego was paid in full by 5/24
The Final inspection has failed twice for missing information and photos according to the city inspector.
Jeff (Alego's owner) has given many different excuses to justify why hasn't pass inspection but it would not fulfill his obligation to amend the issues in order to pass the final inspection
The sale of the property has been approved but it is been delayed due to the open roof permit and buyers refuse to keep waiting.
Jeff has stopped answering my multiple calls and texts and when advised that I would take legal action if the job is not completed, he replied "good luck with your inspection" and blocked my number.
I regret given him the contract and hope my story help others avoiding this nightmare

Really satisfied with the quality and workmanship. Love the color and look of the new roof. Very impressed with the company from the owners to the crew. Crew showed up early and worked late to complete job. Would recommend them in a heartbeat.

So I hired Alego roofing to do my business roof. ($14,000) I explained what I wanted and that I needed a permit. They pulled a permit for a duplex not a commercial building. I have been calling Jeff everyday for a month and it goes straight to voice-mail. I have to call from different numbers and all I get is the run around. I now have to pay another contractor to pull another permit because these people won't fix their mistake. Also I explain that there was pooling on the roof. No problem we will raise the roof. They didnt. These are pics after the job. I told Jeff about it and he just brushed me off. DON'T do business with these people!

Permits

Following is a totally objective timeline of my experience with Alego Roofing (Florida CCC1330618) and its representative Jeff Nash ([email protected]). As you are reading this, keep in mind I’d had several conversations with Jeff by phone and email prior to this date about dishonest roofing companies with whom I had experience who stole deposit money.
On December 15, 2022, my 5% deposit check was cashed by Alego. Jeff assured me of the timeline in the following text message: “yes I did receive the email also the check I will get it filed with city this upcoming week and typically would be ready in 3 weeks. The holidays may add some days I will keep you updated.” Based on this text message, I had mid January in my mind, even with the holidays.
On January 6, I asked for an update on submission to the city of Miami, but was told Jeff was out of town and besides, he doesn’t handle permitting.
On January 16, I wrote the following email:
“Jeff, it's been one month since you received my deposit check on December 15, 2022. I texted you for updates Jan. 5 and Jan. 11, neither of which you responded to. I called you on January 6 to follow up on the status with the city, but you said you were on vacation, and don't handle the permits anyway. My contact at the city of Miami building department said as of January 13, 2023, there is no activity for the property address.”
I received this email response January 18:
“We have gone through the holidays and are now back to work I told you this would not be a fast process with permitting, we will have a package turned in to the city by 1/24 or I will be glad to send your deposit back to you, I can with 100% certainty assure no one is interested in your $600.”
I subsequently decided to get my information about permit application directly from City of Miami. It was never done as Jeff promised, so on January 30th, I sent an email requesting my deposit check back. On January 31, Jeff responded: “Will do.”
No check ever arrived.
My final email before writing this review was on February 16:
“I have not yet received the $650 refund of my deposit requested January 30. It is two months since you received that deposit check, and almost a month since you stated in a January 18th email “we will have a package turned in to the city by 1/24 or I will be glad to send your deposit back to you.” Please have the check mailed by the end of this week or I will have no choice but to submit reviews and complaints to the state licensing board.”
Needless to say, no response UNTIL I posted this review/story on their Facebook page, at which time I mine was the first and only review (1 star, of course). The following day, Jeff emailed saying he'll send a check if I remove the "slanderous" Facebook review. I replied I would remove it once I received my refund, and besides the truth is not slander. Within 8 hours, Alego's Facebook page had a bunch of similarly glowing Facebook reviews, all of which were posted at exactly the same time. I am no longer naive about Google and Facebook reviews. Many of them are bought and paid for, so buyer beware.
Consumers are not protected in the state of Florida with contractor deposits. You have no leverage but to warn the public not to do business with unscrupulous businesses like this and hope the free market sorts it out. If I get a refund of my deposit as promised, I will update this review. I am only interested in putting out factual information.
