Took 95% of the contract money and never finished the job. Although the contract had a payment "schedule" based on completing sections of work, he (Michael Barnett, the owner of ALL Carpentry) would come to my door and demand money at the end of each week regardless of how much "work" was done, saying if I did not give him more money his men would not come back to work the next week. The way he built the structure was to never fully complete a "deliverable" as described in the contract before moving on to work on something else, always leaving materials exposed to the weather and wood was turning black from being wet for so long because he would pull his men to do other jobs while mine sat there rotting. I was supposed to pay for materials and he had me order, for example, 60 @ 2x4 studs that never ended up in the structure and which disappeared off the site. It was very difficult to find anyone to complete the job once he abandoned it because no one who came to look at the job wanted to fix the things he did wrong, and said the work was sloppy. The project was supposed to take 8 weeks and it is now 4 years later and I just recently got someone to put in the blocking that should have been put between the floor joists before they put down the plywood subfloor (which squeaks when you walk on it). I could list many other issues but I feel I have made my case for giving him one star.
