Called himself a 'project manager', told me his life story. Made it clear that he makes his living from being a go-between. I certainly don't want to pay someone hire a landscaper for me. I would prefer to speak for myself.
I don't usually write negative impressions about people in this manner, but this gentleman was so unprofessional on the phone, that I felt I should raise the red flag for others who might think of hiring him. I would say proceed with great caution. If you want to pay someone a lot of money to check out a landscaper for you, and speak for you to said landscaper or building professional, then be my guest. Be aware that he will charge you by the hour for talking constantly about himself. That phone call was an hour of my life I cannot get back!

I submitted my project request on a Saturday around noon. Within an hour, Parke Adams called me and offered to meet me at the project site. This was a complex job that 3 other contractors who visited the site declined out of hand. The upper balcony to be repaired is 48 feet above street level--a very narrow street where no parking is allowed--and the building abuts the sidewalk. Parke spent over an hour studying the situation, making meticulous notes and drawings, and pointing out everything that might have to be done to complete the job successfully. Less than a week later, he gave a very reasonable bid which included a provision for additional work if necessary. As it turned out, there was significant additional work--replacement of dry-rotted beams, etc. However, the job was completed in 2 weeks with very little disruption to tenants. The final cost of the job was a bit more than twice the original estimate, but the crew did a great job--both from a structural and aesthetic point of view--and I feel it was worth every penny.
