  We wanted to do major remodeling and hired a reputable structural engineer to provide us with a foundation repair report. We then hired Alpha Foundation Repair to do the work based on the foundation repair report. What seemed like a straightforward plan turned into a nightmare.

  Over the past months we’ve discovered that Alpha Foundation’s piers that they installed under our home are actually concrete blocks, as opposed to the concrete pressed pilings recommended. These blocks are visually consistent with block and base pads used for interior supports, not concrete pressed pilings. They damaged some wood beams in the crawl space and instead of correctly replacing them instead are trying to get away with unacceptable "sistering" and "scabbing" that will not hold up long term.

  They also used shoddy materials, broke our concrete grade beam in 2 places, 1 of which caused the exterior brick across the entire front of our house to separate from the wall, and in some places didn’t even complete the work as stated in the contract. They didn’t tell us any of this. All they said was job complete per contract and we want to be paid. They won’t accept any responsibility. They also didn’t pull a permit like they were supposed to, which we found out from the city afterwards while trying to fix their mess. In total, the damage they caused is costing us more to fix then what we paid them.

  In the foundation repair report that we provided to Alpha Foundation it said to install 13 piers. 4 for the fireplace and 9 across the front of the house. Of these 13 we have evidence that shows they did not install 4 under the fireplace (which in email they now state an excuse for why they didn’t do it but still refuse to refund), 4 are concrete blocks not pressed pilings (1 is directly under where they broke our concrete beam), and the other 4 nobody knows where they are at because Alpha Foundation refuses to provide a completion report. I don’t think they have one.

  In addition to this the contract stated they would replace all rotten and damaged wood with pressure treated lumber. The only sections they replaced were the easy parts that are easily seen. As we started to investigate further, we found that instead of removing all the rotten wood they instead only replaced the “outer” parts and literally screwed new wood into the rotten wood behind it. They expected no one to ever find and expose their work.

  Our structural engineer can’t believe the mess they caused and said he’s only seen this from companies that normally disappear overnight. We cannot remodel until the foundation is fixed. We have consulted 2 other foundation companies and 1 more structural engineer who all agree with our structural engineer. Alpha Foundation Repair won’t redo the work with correct materials and won’t refund us. We can’t start remodeling until the foundation issues are resolved.

  This has now dragged on for 13 months and during that time we had our baby girl but can’t move into our home. Alpha Foundation Repair has clearly taken advantage of us, they’re unethical, unprofessional, break more than they fix and the craziest part is they don’t pour concrete beams. Yes, a foundation company that can’t actually handle all the parts of your foundation. Not even the parts they themselves break. They put us in contact with one of their concrete specialist subs who quoted us 3x more than other companies. Seems suspicious because it is.

  They provide a warranty but what value is that if they don’t know what they’re doing and damage everything they touch. The city is upset with us and red tagged our house for code violations all because of Alpha Foundation Repair. But they get to keep damaging other foundations while we have to sort through this mess all while having no home to live in.
