    Kitchen Remodel project

I really feel like I hit the jackpot with these guys. From the bidding process with Greg (and several changes) to the actual construction part with Jake, these guys are first rate. They made the whole remodel process a relatively painless experience for us. They were responsive to my needs and made sure that everything was how I wanted it. It was completed in a timely manner as well. My only regret is that I did not know them when I remodeled my bathrooms. They offer great customer service as well as being organized and professional.

    Bathroom remodel
    $12,000

We decided to upgrade our master bath totally and chose Amax to complete the project. When Jake came out for the initial walk through, I felt very confident in his professional manner. While the job was being done, Skyler oversaw the entire project until it's completion. He was very respectful in our house and made me feel at ease. Upon completion Jake and Skyler both met with us to make sure that we were 100% satisfied. I highly recommend Amax for your next project or remodel.

    Kitchen Remodel

After reading their profile and reviews on Buildzoom, I decided to talk with AMAX Builders to discuss a kitchen remodel. I had just gone through a month of bad experiences with two different contractors; one had been recommended by a friend and the other was recommended by Homeadvisors.

I contacted Jake Hardy of AMAX and set up an appointment to meet with him and his partner, Greg. From the very start I got good vibes from Jake and Greg. They were very cordial and knew what they were talking about, easy to talk to and great listeners. A time frame was established and a price agreed upon.

Throughout the remodel AMAX kept me informed and listened to my "wants".
Jake and Greg always showed up the day and time they had told me. It was so nice to be able to count on that so I didn't have to wait around and waste time as I had done with other workers in the past who never showed up.

The Christmas season was approaching and the remodel was not going to be done in time for visiting relatives. Most of the cabinetry was installed but the counters had not arrived. Jake and Greg had told me ahead of time that this was a possibility, but they went over and above when they "installed" plywood on top of the new cabinets so I could use my kitchen to entertain.

The project was completed several weeks later and I am extremely pleased with the quality and aesthetics of my new kitchen. I would highly recommend AMAX Builders for any home projects you might have.

    Total interior refresh
    $35,000
    120 days

I would like to say what a great experience it was working with Jay Morton and his team from AMAX Builders on an interior renovation of my home. We had quite a bit of damage due to extraordinary settling and once we had stabilized the house there was quite a bit of cosmetic damage that had to be repaired. Jay’s team essentially made the interior of my house “like new” – every wall and ceiling was repaired and painted. All of the floors were redone, carpets and tile removed, hardwood and cork flooring installed, and acid-stained concrete installed over faux flagstone.
The crew arrived each day on time and worked straight through for 8 hours. Each day they cleaned up and made it possible for us to stay in the house for all but the final floor treatment. They moved and replaced all the furniture, moving from room to room so we weren’t too disrupted at any one time. Their personal high quality standards made it a pleasure to work with them – they would fix things I didn’t even notice needing to be fixed.
A special shout out to Greg Moore, the superintendent on the job. He did most of the flooring himself, was prompt and kept me updated each day on what was accomplished and what was planned for the next day. I trusted Greg’s advice when it came to making unforeseen decisions and everything turned out beautifully.
The project came in close to on time, delays due to unexpected additional foundation remediation work, which also caused a few change orders which increased the cost, but nothing unmanageable. When we had issues with some of the flooring, Jay's team came out and repaired it under warranty at no charge to us and we got the same quality work as with the original project.

I would not hesitate to use AMAX Builders on any future project and would be happy to provide a reference for anyone considering them for their building project.

    Remodel several bathrooms
    $25,000
    35 days

Our project was to remodel the guest and master bathrooms in our home. We selected Amax Home Services after soliciting quotes from a range of contractors including small specialty contractors that were basically tile setters, to larger firms with expansive bathroom showrooms. Our selection criteria were as follows: competitive price, full range of service (important since we were considering add-on projects), flexibility and capability to do add on work and make changes on the fly, viable references, ability to provide recommendations and guidance, and ability for us to provide certain materials (mirrors, lighting, plumbing fixtures) that we had already selected. Of the bids we reviewed, we found the small specialty contractors unable to provide specific detail on all aspects of our project outside of their area of expertise, and the large bathroom companies were quite expensive and very inflexible. I found four general contractors with good bathroom remodeling experience that were price competitive. Of these I selected Amax Home Services. They offered a very detailed quote, a competitive price, a broad range of capability and excellent references. I spoke with one prior Amax client by phone and they described a project similar to ours where they needed the flexibility to add projects. They were extremely pleased with Amax and were specifically complimentary of how easy Amax was to work with. We contracted with Amax in early November with a hard deadline for the guest bathroom to be done by early December due to out of town company arriving. From our viewpoint, it was a very good experience. Amax provided a wealth of good recommendations to help us finalize many of the details of our project, the workers arrived on schedule and finished on schedule. The supervisor was on site daily and sent txt messages to us routinely regarding start/finish dates for each phase of work. Small things were appreciated like workers introducing themselves when they arrived and advising us when they left, plus the various craftsmen (sheet rock, tile layers, plumbers, electricians) were very capable and also knew each other and could easily coordinate their specific tasks among themselves. The final result is all of our bathrooms were completed on schedule and budget. We expanded our scope of work by about 25% to include work in our kitchen, dining room, and an additional bathroom since along the way we thought of additional work wanted to include. The bottom line is in addition to meeting our schedule and budget our bathrooms and other projects came out beautifully. We are very pleased with the results.

Remove tub and walls and replace with walk-in all tile shower.
    $2,500
    4 days

I had the Amax team take a tub out and replace with a tile walk-in shower...I am so pleased. They took extra time to finish edges/corners and the attitude and atmosphere from the workers was kind, friendly and comfortable to have in my home for the several days they worked here. In addition, I had them back to lay solid wood floors. They took out my old carpet and the value of my house has gone up considerably with these two projects now completed...I highly recommend them. (In addition I had them install a new garbage disposal)
