    Re Roof
    $11,000

If we could give 0 stars we would for this company. We recently had hour home re roofed with American Commercial Construction & Development. The salesman over promised and under delivered, before we signed the contract to begin work the salesman was in constant contact with us coming to our home multiple times to go over work, but once we signed he disappeared. We were told once we signed the work would start in 2-3 weeks and be completed in 3 days at most, by a highly experienced crew. Their would be a supervisor on site at all times (who was also the salesmen) and we would be kept up to date on when materials would be delivered, and work would begin. It was over a month after singing and we had not heard anything and decided to call both the salesman and company. Calls to sales were left unanswered, calls to company were also met with resistance. After we made multiple calls the salesman finally called us back and came over to our home with another contract to sign, he had lost the original and materials were never ordered. After this final contract we were contacted another 2 weeks later suddenly by a company showed up without notice to deliver materials onto our roof.
3 weeks later workers finally showed up and the experienced crew we were promised were 2 clearly unskilled day laborers with no supervision. They preceded to strip the roof and left it open to the elements, not covering the bare wood as we were told they would. As is common in Florida we had heavy rain that night and the next day their was extensive water damage to our ceilings and drywall inside the house. After several complains the company’s solution was to simply paint over the damage inside. We had to hire an inspector to come out and prove their was damage. It was only after this and several more phone calls the company president that they finally agreed to drywall damaged areas. The same “skilled” workers that were doing the roof dropped off drywall and left it outside our home where it would get wet. Luckily I went out and brought it into our garage that night to save it from being soaked.
The roof was done poorly to say it mildly. On our contract it was stated up to 4 sheets of plywood would be replaced with re roof, but this was never done. An area of our roof and one of the main reasons for the entire job was rotted and needed replacement, they simply re-shingled over the whole area. The ridge lines were all crooked, they workers broke out power line pole cover, improperly installed the drip edges, and did not secure most shingles. We contacted the company president about these issues and after he hung up on my wife multiple times and spoke down to both of us we had to call the city inspector and ask for another inspection. The company president said the dip in our roof was due to high trusses, trying to mask that his employees did not do their job correctly. It was only after the city inspector was scheduled to come out did the company suddenly call us and send the same workers back out. They removed the shingles over the ridge lines and re did them crooked again and it was only after I stood their the entire time did they correct them. The area that the president insisted was due to high trusses was rotted wood and needed to be replaced.
In the end please save yourself the horror we had and go with someone else.

    Replace Roof
    $11,200

If you are planning on using this company for replacing a roof, just be don't. First off they started without me even knowing after I paid the deposit and made it VERY clear to not start until I had all the money which would most likely be after a vacation…. But one day I get a call from my roommate that I should probably come home because a huge chunk of the ceiling fell through along with a rush of water from pipes that they hit and obviously did not notice until the ceiling was so saturated with water that it literally fell through onto my dog. I had no idea how this happened because I was completely unaware that the roof was even being worked on this day. I got the call from my roommate around 11am and had to leave work to deal with this all. I finally called the office and they simply said they had been meaning to call me about an issue in the house. 2 HOURS AFTER THE CELINIG ALREADY FELL THROUGH. Now they seemed to have hit the pipes, they said the pipes shouldn’t have been up against the ceiling and but since the company didn’t take the 2 minutes it would have taken to check the pipes before starting to avoid all this they decided to very rudely say it was all my fault and they are not responsible for this at all. But they obviously hit the pipes and didn’t notice right away because in the end of it all I had a 6 ft by 15 ft hole in the ceiling that fell from being so saturated from water as well as a 6 ft by 8 ft water stain on the other side of my master bedroom which eventually had to be cut out as well as the walls being 99% moisture… that doesn’t happen quickly. They called a plumber in which I also did not have water for over 24 hours because they didn’t have the plumber fix it all. Oh and in the end of it all, guess who paid for that shitty plumber? Me.
So after my vacation they started texting me right away about payment (understandable) although they started before I had them money and they knew I didn’t have it and I told them I would let them know when I have it. And then they started texting me every couple of days and was very rude about it all. Started texting me at 8pm on a Tuesday to ask for the money or 6pm on a Sunday. Bother me during business hours, not on the weekend. And every time they asked Lynn was very rude about it all saying that I had to pay interest and such. EVEN THOUGH I MADE IT VERY CLEAR I DIDN’T HAVE THE CHECK FROM MY INSURANCE AND WOULD LET THEM KNOW WHEN I RECEIVED IT.
Anyways, overall I would never recommend anyone to work with the people in Orlando. Lynn was very rude through this whole process and Robbie just kinda disappeared when it all happened and would randomly text me.

We are so sorry about the water issues but you should have filed the claim against the plumber who installed the water line right up against the roof deck. You went after the wrong group, we are sorry you had this problem.

Deceived Us on The Cost of The Job

If you ever use Keith to replace your roof? make sure you don’t trust a word that comes out of his mouth and cross out on the contract what he has quoted you for that is also written. You initial and have him initial the changes. Because I trusted him we got taken and when I told him we will be sure to write a complaint on Home Adviser and everywhere else on the web to let others know his type of business practices. HE TOLD ME “You better make sure you don’t do that, if you do I will have my Lawyer sue you for slander” Go ahead Keith, slander is when someone states untruths, and every word here is true. I did have a witness to this conversation at the time. BUT as I told him, “Huh, now I know why you have no complaints, because you threaten people with slander and they don’t want to deal with it”.
We had Keith Powers come and give us a quote to replace a roof on a house that is 1,450 total sqft that we were closing on, on February 16th 2017. There was wood around the roof that was rotten and needed replacing. Keith looked at it and knew it needed replacing along with Shingling the roof, not only by sight but I told him to please include the replacement of the wood in the cost because we have to budget for it. Keith gave us a quote for $8,750 which at the time I thought to be reasonable with the wood also.
I signed the contract for him to start after we close. Keith told us he will start on February 18th and it will take 2 days to complete. He said it only takes 2 days to get a permit, but we have to mail in a notarized Notice of Commencement for him to start on time. Whoops, my bad, I forgot to get that done and mailed into them, but I mailed it on the day of closing and they received it on the following Wednesday February 22nd . He said he will start on the Friday 24th, Friday 24th became Monday 27th then that became Thursday March 2nd and will be finished Friday March 3rd ….. FINALLY.
However, they didn’t finish until Monday March 6th AND top of that, the back and forth on the phone with Keith asking about the permit and the start date he made a lot of mis-statements about how the process was going having me believe the roof will be done sooner that it was, THEN when I confronted him about his mis-statements he had the gall to call me a liar and he never said what he did. He also kept harassing me to pay the guys/staff the check before the roof is even finished and before it has even passed inspection.
WHO DOES THAT? One waits for an invoice and copy of the passed inspection and then pay the bill to the office, which is what I told him. Then, to add insult to injury, the office emailed us an invoice for $10,368. Naturally we questioned this and was told that it clearly states in the contract that the cost of the wood is an extra charge.
    Buyer Beware.

The wood is something you dont know until we open the roof any buyer should ask the contractor about wood cost and read your agreement before signing it and now we have the burden of this owner making a false claim on American.

I love my new roof. Keith, Ramon, and Misael did an excellent work regardless of bad weather conditions in Clearwater. I highly recommend American Commercial Construction.
