Chris Russell and George are the best guys I've ever hired.. They built a big two-story deck on our house in East Hampton.. everything was done perfectly they really helped out with design . They are definitely high-end and A Cut Above the Rest. you're more than welcome to come take a look if you're ever in the area .we have nothing but praise for these guys and Chris's nephew Michael came in and helped design valances and curtains throughout the house.. They were actually very reasonable but most of all Pleasant and approachable I think we found our go-to guys for any projects in the future ..Infact I may have Chris come into Manhattan and do some large Crown moldings and some of his beautiful faux finishes

These guys are the best home improvement guys around ! I am a superintendent on large projects in NYC and Nassau County..I know quite a bit about construction trades..They built a 2 story addition on our cape..they also installed a 2 tier deck and it turned out Amazing. .Use these guys. .you will not be disappointed

Hire American General Painting and Home Improvement and it's owner Chris Miller at your own risk. He has been dishonest about himself and his work on my project from day one. He does not have a contractor's license to operate in Nassau County, only in Suffolk, however he misrepresented himself by saying he did and please keep in mind he initially contacted me for the job. He has limited experience in deck building. His positive reviews are only for painting and interior work and have nothing to do with actual construction. He recklessly cuts corners, such as omitting necessary materials and disregarding code in order to save on his overhead. For example he didn't use post caps on any of the posts, he used 1 inch nails instead of 3 inches to attach joist hangers to the ledger board and he charged me for sono tubes even though he didn't use them for the footings. When it comes to building a deck this kind of gross negligence is extremely dangerous and criminal. Chris never worked a five day week and always had an excuse as to why he or his two workers could not make it in to complete my project. After paying him $6,000 and OVER A MONTH of him working two day work weeks on my still uncompleted deck I had enough and asked for a completion date. Chris responded to this by harassing me with a tirade of text messages blaming me for everything including the weather. Ultimately he abandoned the job and retrieved his tools from my LOCKED crawl space where I had initially allowed him to store his tools. Yes, he broke into my house while I was at work. CONSUMER BEWARE AND AVOID.

Chris , Michael and Russell were total professionals with our home remodel project. We have a big grand old lady of the house in Stony Brook New York. We wanted to bring it back to its original Beauty yet we were kind of on a tight budget. Chris was willing to work with us and I have to say the job came out fantastic.. for carpentry Russell really knows his stuff he is a Craftsman of the highest quality.. Chris and Michaels attention to detail bringing back Colonial color coordination and fixing a lot of fancy woodwork .. they even stripped my floors which I didn't think was even possible... And put a rich Walnut stain and some satin clear coat. It looks outstanding next swell tall white crisp floor molding as well as all the moldings around doors windows and Crown... Chris took care of some severe repair work we needed on our roof we didn't quite have the money to do it entirely just yet.. but Chris solved a few problems that will give us a few years to save up and do a complete new roof... Thank you guys at American General you went above and beyond and we are impressed..
