America's Home Place Site Work Contractor
In 1972, Barry Conner had a vision to create a company that could build quality custom homes at a lower cost than his competitors. Following the ‘principle over profit’ philosophy of other successful business leaders, Barry believed that if you provided customers a quality built home, at a better price, and treated customers with respect, always following good, honest principles, our business would be successful. Now, four decades later, America’s Home Place, Inc. is a large independent custom home builder with over 40 Building Centers and Model Centers located throughout the south and more opening to serve the growing need for quality, custom homes throughout the region. America’s Home Place, Inc. is an integral provider of the American Dream for so many families, due to the hard work and dedication of more than 350 professionals and 4,000 trade partners. We strive daily to fulfill the vision of our founder, Barry Conner, and continue providing better homes for our customers.

All of our issues: Roof leaking for nine months, new a/c unit malfunction, mold in crawlspace during build and after a/c malfunction. No mold remediation offered. Denial of clear mold issue. Damaged tub, floor installed improperly and ignored independent home inspection recommendations, manager lied about foundation drain and we had to dig it up to discover the lie and push to get it fixed, nails driven through drip edge, windows flashed wrong, housewrap put on wrong. ALL These things have been a continuous battle to get done properly and going to social media and leaving reviews has been my only way of getting things done. I try it their way once or twice and reliably, they continue to fail. I am now looking at what my legal rights are. Here's some more issues, neglected to put plugs on Cat 5 cables, did not install housing for cat 5 (I did it after their electrician quit), Fireplace failed inspection several times before city would pass it, air handler is on uneven ground and not level, Crawlspace left open and not taped properly per contract (I had to push for it to be done right), door handles came loose within 6 months with normal use, construction rocks left in the yard all over and just covered up, Piping to shower not installed correctly so they squeak every time you use it (they said it was the pipes fault not the shower....so I'm going with what they say), Light fixtures crooked and not aligned with sinks in bathrooms, modeling was broken and repaired and now less than a year with shrinkage and settling, it's broken again, Materials left uncovered for months in rain and snow, scratches on new doors, door drip pan was not installed on one door, then they redid all doors, then forgot a different door, then had to redo door again, windows left with mortar from the brick work on it for months, stairs were used as a construction garbage pail and sealed in with drywall, kitchen cupboards damaged and repaired with caulk....I can go on and on.

We would like to share our experience in having a custom home built by America’s Home Place.
First of all, we want to acknowledge America’s Home Place member Brandon (German Apple Strudel) Strissel. Brandy or Mr. Strudel as we often refer to him is our phenomenal HERO!!!! His down home folksy, ever positive, always willing to please Tennessee way is not only charming but totally refreshing! And as seems characteristic of those who shine as heroes by day he is unknown to most to be also a super hero by night. He works tirelessly at night in direct coordination with many different state and national law enforcement agencies to rid our streets of the bums and the whimps and the pimps and the gimps that clog up the system and take up too much .....parking space. As not the only superhero to have large RED “S” (for Strissel) on the chest portion of his caped crusader outfit he can many times be confused for Superman?
Also we want to acknowledge Mr.. Lars Jacobs the general manager and “une personne le extraordinaire” at Americas Home Place Nashville branch. He exhibits what we refer to as the lost art of listening. As a former salesman, business owner and currently as a Registered Nurse I have found it an essential skill set to truly listen to someone. That ability to really hear the other person. That skill of holding back that seemingly human knee jerk response of ignoring what that other person is really saying and instead reacting and formulating a response in your own mind to what you think their point MAY be. Perhaps totally ignoring what they are actually saying. This can cause an incredible shift and movement in what ever process is being pursued. This REAL discussion of what could be totally opposite points of view could generate totally new ideas or approaches previously not thought of by either party?
Anyway I was getting off point. We really want to give thanks to Lars for this uncommon, and generally lost skill set!!!!!
In previous training, and in being a Critical Care Registered Nurse where it could possibly be the difference between life and death for a patient. It is ESSENTIAL if you have people who really pay attention to details. I pay closer attention to details then just the average client? Both Lars and Brandon worked their combined magic to address any and all our concerns to BEYOND our complete satisfaction.
Bottom line, will there be ups and downs in a custom home build process with ANY homebuilder? The answer may be yes! With life in general there will be ups and downs. Some say it is part of the “human condition.” If you add to that something that could be as emotionally charged as buying, selling or building a home. And you have the potential for an emotional upset? That is why you really need a builder and a builder manager like Lars Jacobs, Brandon and the team at the Nashville branch of America’s Home Place!!!!
You may really wish to avoid some other home builders in what some TV cartoon characters, and a few 3 year olds refer to as those tricky “twicksters?” Stay away from those Ebenezer teasers. Go with a quality custom home builder and People Pleaser’s. Go wit the team at the Nashville branch of America’s Home Place Nashville.
