    Install an in ground pool

We put a deposit down in 2018, excuse after excuse after excuse as to why no work had been started. Getting any kind of response via text/phone/or email was almost impossible and rarely received updates. When any communication was returned it was in the form of an excuse or empty promise. The last straw was when we finally reached the middle of August and still did not have our pool completed or even a sliver of work started. Once we finally realized this company and its owner had no intention of completing or starting the work promised and a dozen start dates had passed without any work begun we decided to cancel the pool and look to a different company. We were promised our deposit back and still over one year later have not received our money prompting an ongoing court case to get our deposit back adding to the already extensive costs for which we never received any work beyond a permit.

Like I stated previously, We had a contract back in April of this year. Our pool should have been done end of June/beginning of July. Excuse after excuse from Mark Hudnutt. then he went MIA for over a week with NO response to our calls/texts/emails. Just a couple weeks ago Mark called to say He can’t do the job and he would be mailing our deposit back! He did not follow through with his word or his contract with us! We have yet to see our deposit returned..... More Lies!! I urge anyone considering using Angels Custom Pools/Mark Hudnutt, to RUN, DONT WALK away!!

Install salt water pool and hot tub

    DO NOT HIRE MARK HUDNUTT

We signed a contract with Mark Hudnutt February 15, 2018 - As of today, July 8, 2019 -

    1. Salt water/chlorine generator for hot tub not installed which has rendered it unusable to date
    2. Protruding lights in pool and hot tub have not been replaced
    3. Hollow areas under “play pad” have not been filled, play pad will crack under the weight of people walking/sitting/standing on it
    4. I have not been provided an appropriate hose to backwash the pool/hot tub sand filters - said filters should be backwashed once a week at minimum - the hot tub filter has never been backwashed and the pool filter has been backwashed once - it’s a matter of time before my pool equipment breaks
    5. There are many rust stains on the bottom of the pool due to anything piece of a clip from the pool cover which Mark installed, he left the broken clip in the water
    6. The hot tub has NO jets - the hot tub is supposed to have strategically placed jets to help decrease symptoms of back pain and arthritis - short of pulling up the pool I don’t know how this issue can be resolved - in essence we have a giant bathtub in our backyard, it’s just a smaller version of the pool - completely worthless
    7. We have not been provided with a hose for the manual vacuum
    8. Two pieces of equipment are installed at ground level and they are supposed to be at least 12” above the ground -
    9. We are not able to use the control systems via WiFi as indicated by Mark - it has never worked rendering that feature completely useless

Mark is not responding to texts, emails or telephone calls - he has given us every excuse in the book regarding the myriad issues we have dealt with because of him for nearly a year and a half - flat tires, broken down trucks, no workers (because he doesn’t pay them), health issues - the list of excuses never ends - Mark is unorganized, he contracts too many jobs each season so he is unable to complete one project before he moves on to the next, he has ZERO employees, he takes forever to respond to his customers if he responds at all - our experience with Mark has been absolutely horrendous and I decided to post reviews even though our project still isn’t finished as I don’t want anyone else to go through this -

    Dig/install vinyl liner inground pool

Hired Mark Hudnutt back in April 2019, told him what we needed, He accepted the job. He seemed nice and trustworthy, however Our vinyl Liner pool was to have been installed by him and completed around the end of June/beginning of July. Here we are and all he did was paint out where the pool would be in the yard. Just a few days ago we found out He Never even pulled permits, like he said he did. He never even registered with the city of Hilliard! Lies upon lies!! We called, texted, emailed and didn’t hear from him for over a week!! We were very concerned, then he finally did call to tell us he was weeks out from
Even starting the dig!! ( no kidding), then a loss of communication again, finally he called to say he couldn’t do the job and would be mailing our deposit back to us!! .... we have yet to receive the check he said he put in the mail. WARNING:Stay far far away from Mark and Angels Custom Pools, your pool will NEVER get completed, he is also a one man crew... ugh!!!!

    Build Inground Pool
    $36,000

    Buyer beware.

Mark Hudnutt never filed for the permits per our contract. We now have a stop work order. We have since released Mark. Mark does not build pools on Sat or Sunday. Saturday is for soliciting new business rain or shine, even if he's very behind on current projects.

We went in to contract in March 2017. We gave Mark the first 1/3 of the project cost $12K to procure the permits, drawings, and equipment to ensure the pool project. After Mark receive our $12K we did not hear back from Mark. I emailed several times to see how the permits were going. It wasn't until late May that Mark replied back to a firm email stating that we were planning on canceling the contract and requesting a refund do to no activity. Mark replied back that he would start June 19. The pool should finish around July 8. The start Day came and no nothing from Mark. I reached out to him several times. He finally replied back that he was running behind because of issues with a other pool. He came our several days later and spray painted the dig site. He miss marked the pool that would have cause us to be over budget on the fencing. We called Mark and set up another meeting. I asked for the permits as drawings again. No information was provided. Fortunately my wife draws and we were able to show Mark the correct location. Mark finally showed up start the project on July 10. I had taken off work the previous 2 weeks to support the project. Unfortunately, I left for a 2 week business trip when Mark
started. He never brought the permits. I returned from my trip and found the pool area escavated. Several more days passed and the walls were in place. I would check daily when the weather was good to understand the build plan. Days would go by with out activity. Mark was having issues with manpower. We then received a text he has having chest pains and was heading to the ER. We reached out to Mark but did not hear back for several days (left Wednesday- reply on Monday). We reached out to make to confirm if he was able to finish the project. He replied he would. He asked for the next $12K installment. I was hesitant to make the installment. There was a lot of work needing to be completed. He was struggling with heart problems and manpower. We were weeks behind. There was also a comment left on the BBB stating Mark was unable to pay his associates and that he poured his footer short. There was a statement about the stairs floating. I started researching and reviewing the drawings. It appears that make poured my footer about 2-3"and the drawings showed 6-8". I wanted second opinions before Mark buried the footer. I received 3 professional opinions and spoke to several pool builders. There were several concern areas. I was told to contact the inspector to confirm the integrity of the build. I called the permitting office and the county. I was told no paper work had been filed. We're currently working through the permits on our own with the support of other pool companies. We were told that we needed some repair work to the walls and anchor to prevent issues down the road. We are also working through the inventory of what we have and what's missing. We're told that our project can be finished with in 5 days once we get the permits. It's very frustrating that we worked on this project all summer and each pool builder I reached out to states our pool build is a pretty simple project. Time estimates are mostly 5- 10 days.
