    Bathroom remodel
    $46,000

On 29 January 2024, we entered into an agreement with Aquilla’s Roofing and Construction, LLC, HICPA #048387, for a complete remodel of our master bathroom. The work required the skills of multiple disciplines including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, flooring, etc. The shower was to be a custom shower designed and built to accommodate someone with disabilities. The agreement was that work was not to begin until all materials were on-hand, so that work could progress uninterrupted. Time estimate for the completion of the work was three (3) weeks. We made a down payment of $20,000 at the time of the agreement. Total finished cost of the project was $46,374.
The work began the morning of 21 February 2024.To say it went smoothly is an exaggeration of fact. Total time to complete the project was eight (8) weeks. The work was plagued by correcting poor workmanship and lack of attention to details, often requiring removal and correction of completed work. The scrap pieces of shower panel material were used, the electrical switches were not of the same color, the caulking work was amateurish at best, they left scraps of materials on my covered patio for weeks, and they used tools and implements from my garage without asking. While all was corrected, going back and redoing amateurish work only further delayed the project. For example, the flooring they installed did not fit properly against the custom cabinets, so they used a mis-sized, not matching color piece of wood to hide the error. The toilet was not reinstalled properly requiring a refit, leaving black marks on the floor. The subcontractor they used for wallboard repairs, sanding and painting had to come back 3 or 4 times to redo work that was just unprofessional. They smoked outside and left cigarette butts on the ground with no regard for the appearance of our property. At least two of their vehicles leaked oil on our blacktop driveway; when I showed Aquilla this, he simply shrugged it off.
The work was finished on 19 April 2024, with the admonition that we could not use the shower until Monday, 22 April 2024. Upon turning on the shower the morning of 22 April 2024, we discovered that they had used the wrong type of valve in the shower, and we had no hot water available. Aquilla contacted another plumber to troubleshoot their work, with the new plumber removing the incorrect valves and replacing them. We now have hot water in our shower.
What originally started as a three-week project ran from 21 February until 22 April, with no corresponding reduction in price, no relief from having lost use of our master bath for nearly three times the estimated length of the project. Nothing but apologies.
This company does not perform computer aided design, nor do they take advantage of mechanical drawings, instead they wait until they are at various stages of the project to order materials to fit what they have constructed.
While they are certainly nice, extensive, custom renovations are beyond their capability. In this instance, they promised a lot up front, and simply did not deliver anything but excuses. Throughout the project, they treated our home as if it was a construction site and not someone’s home. While all of the above have been addressed and corrected, there should be no excuse for a licensed contractor to perform at this amateurish level.
Their lack of attention to detail, the use of scrap materials and incorrect plumbing valves, and the general disregard for our original agreement drives me to question if this company is competent and capable of adhering to the license agreement from the State of Pennsylvania?

    Roofing and patio deck
    $0

Very professional and attention to details. He goes by the State laws and coding. Competitive prices. He did a great job at my neighbor's house roof and built a beautiful backdoor deck.
