Do not contract with Archview Construction for home remodeling work.
Steve proved himself to be an incompetent project manager and was incapable and unwilling to complete the work under our contract to remodel our kitchen.
We were told our project would take 6-7 weeks. Due to his poor planning, in the first 9 weeks of the project there were 26 days where there was absolutely no work done. He does not have a bench of people available to work for him. He bumped our project for other projects, presumably because he could get paid faster, but he shouldn’t have demolished our kitchen if he wasn’t ready to put it back together.
We had issues with getting the mud/tape done right. Found out later that much of the electrical was done wrong. Steve couldn’t bother to come to the house to see that work was being done right, or possibly doesn’t know what to look for. He demands payment for milestones before they are fully met. Threatened legal action and a lien against our house instead of accepting partial payment and working out a plan to finish the work. Steve wanted to end the contract and not finish his work. We could have sued him for breach of contract. However, I ended up paying Steve most of the payment (more than he deserved) for the milestone and released him from finishing the work mostly because he has caused our family such an extreme amount of stress.
There were more problems, but this review is long enough and should provide you with enough detail to know not to work with Archview.
Three months into the project we are just settling with Steve and the work is still not complete. It will be much less stressful though completing it without Archview involved. Steve will likely say that I am bitter and vengeful. But what should I have to be bitter or vengeful about if my kitchen were done right and in a timely manner? It seems like Steve’s business is tanking and he is so desperate for money that I think he has lost any integrity he may have once had.
