BEWARE of MYRNA (MIA) AVINA, JOSH AVINA, STAR ARROYO of ARROYO AND ASSOCIATES.
DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID!
We hired Mia to remodel a house for our elderly parents. The project called for completion in November 2020 but has yet to be completed. Mia has taken tens of thousands of our money and left us an UNLIVABLE house, with holes throughout the house in the walls and foundation. Mia lied, misled us, and has now DISAPPEARED.
No one from Arroyo and Associates has replied to our calls, texts or emails in over 30+ days. We also know that a subcontractor has not been paid. I’ve worked with many contractors on a multitude of projects and consider myself experienced when it comes to dealing with contractors. However, I have never worked on a foundation project and relied on Mia's expertise.
NOT INSURED: Her emails state she is insured. When we asked for a copy of her insurance, she provided us what appears to be an insurance application.OPERATING UNDER AN INACTIVE COMPANY: Her LLC has been inactive since February 2020. Her office address of 11601 N Lamar is not the location of her company. The current tenant informed us that her company had not been there in years and the police were looking for her.
LIED ABOUT PROJECT DELAYS: We were considerate and trusted her when she said her son was in the hospital, she had to self-quarantine due to COVID, and that the rain caused weeks of delay for foundation work to continue. However, we later learned the project had stopped because she did not pay the subcontractor.
We have hired an attorney to pursue legal action. This has been an immensely stressful and upsetting situation for my family and parents. We put our trust, house, and savings in Mia's hands, and she betrayed us. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions so you can learn from our mistakes.
