If I could give Sonny -5 stars I would, he’s by far the worst tile/ counter guy in this country. He’s a lying crook, never put a down payment down, and always check your slabs he love cracking them to hell and filling with epoxy to cover himself. Horrible person and business

Our experience with Sonny was an absolute nightmare. If anyone suggests him to you, run a mile. His name was given to us through the hardware store so we thought he was a professional, reliable contractor. He seemed pleasant enough when we first met him, friendly, outgoing, and he said all the right things.
We paid him half upfront. Then a little later he said there were some unexpected things about our job and he needed two thousand dollars more now. We foolishly paid him. Then the excuses started. They seemed like really unfortunate disasters so at first we gave him the benefit of the doubt. At first we were understanding and gave him space but as our time frame started to get tighter we started pressing him. The excuses continued unabated. He would make promises and then suddenly vanish for days and not answer his phone or respond to texts. He did not seem to care that we would be losing our builder soon which would leave us with an unfinished house. The countertops had to be installed so the builder could finish the work around it. Sonny did not seem to care that we had to move out of our current house and had to move into our new house even when we were months overdue and extremely stressed. His excuse always topped our needs.
Eventually we realized that he had no intention of finishing the job so we out our efforts into just trying to get our counters off him. Even this was a huge effort as the excuses and stories continued. I had to get the hardware store involved to even get him to send them over. It was painful and very stressful.
Finally we had all the counters. Sonny had not finished the cut-out for the stove so then we had to find someone else to take over, fortunately there was a new contractor in our area who had just started cutting quartz and he was able to save us. Otherwise the counters would have had become expensive lawn ornaments.
The cutting was reasonable but not great. They fit, more or less. There are dirty looking scorch marks along many sides which we were told were caused by the quartz being cut dry instead of under water. There is a chip at the back that was too deep to get hidden by the backsplash tiles, and another small piece was not square so there is this awkward uneven gap alongside the fridge.
We moved into our new home 5 months late thanks to Sonny and I can't begin to tell you the difficulties and stress that caused.
During the process as we begin to mention our troubles to people who were asking when we were moving in we started hearing the same story again and again. From, "that happened to me too!" or "oh yeah, that guy did that to my sister, hairdresser, friend whoever..." to even a friend of his who laughingly told us that when Sonny fired a guy working for him that he had to go and get the guy he fired to finish his job. We heard of a couple who had to ship their unfinished counters to Seattle and back again at great cost to get them finished and of another woman who was still waiting 5 years later. The story was often the same too. He'd get half up front, then come up with some sort of reason why he needed another couple of grand, then he'd make up stories forever until he wore the customer into exhaustion. So I guess that's his gig. How he hasn't been run out of town on a rail I'll never understand.
