Andrew Spalding of AS Custom Cabinetry and Finish Carpentry is a scam artist! He took 50% of the job as advance and then never even started the job. He made many excuses, and now does not return our phone calls or text messages. Stay away!

Hired: November 2013
Various projects:
Trim 3 exterior doors: used MDF instead of pine or cedar – after 10 months trim is warped, surface buckled and needing replacement. Part of the quote on this was to un-install and re-hang one of the doors, they did not do this and did not give me a credit for work not done.
Kitchen Island: Did not put electrical in conduit – Inspector noted and said needed to be fixed, but did not hold up final sign off. Corner molding has come off.
1 Book case unit and 1 Book case & Desk unit: a.) Did not build per signed off drawings, did not fix. b.) Had to make them finish out the underside of the desk which was left raw and rough. c.) drilled 2 holes in aluminum desk top when cladding underside of desk, did not fix. d.) used wrong material for the underside of desk top, did not fix. e.) dropped paint on aluminum desk top and marred surface, did not fix. f.) painted surfaces were left rough and minimally covered. g.) wanted the remainder of the WilsonArt aluminum laminate that I bought outside of the contract for the desk top. They could not produce the left over from the 4’ X 8’ sheet which could have been used for the underside of the desk, it would have been about a half sheet.
Received a quote to install pocket door hardware on 3 doors but they ended up telling me that they would not be able to install because they had never installed the kind of hardware I had.
There was nothing professional about the work. It took from November 2013 when I received quote until July 2014 for me to finally “cut bait”.

DO NOT HIRE HIM!!
As people have said perviously
Andrew Spalding of AS Custom Cabinetry and Finish Carpentry is a scam artist! He took 50% of the job as advance and then never even started the job. He made many excuses, and now does not return our phone calls or text messages. He is one of the worst contractors we have ever dealt with.
Andrew has over $4,000 of our money and will not return anything. He started our project in February with a promise of 3-4 week turnaround. Almost 12 weeks later we still have nothing.
He is a scam artist.
