By Ruth L.March 9, 2017Build my home$325,000
I had my house built over a year ago, my problem with this builder is that I paid for an enclosed patio and what he gave me looked like an enclosed chicken coup. I had to hireBetterliving Sunrooms & Awnings to fix the mess that Ashlar Homes made. I purchased an Ashton-Kennedy reverse model and need to not only turn up the heat in the winter, but also had to purchase a portable heater for the master bedroom. These people are very nice when you buy from them but do not own their lousy work. And yes, I'm one very upset customer.
Response from Ashlar Homes, LLC May 21, 2019Ms. Lugo purchased a spec home from us that was nearly completed in the Chapel Hill community. They requested a screened patio be added at the end of the build. They were shown pictures of previous screened patios that we had done before the patio was priced or constructed. we do not have any warranty claims recorded during their warranty period for a cold master bedroom. -

My brand new $590,000 house, built by Ashlar Homes, is full of defects such as a carpet, which is discolored and looks bad, a structural column that is dislocated and literally hangs out, bed room floor in the master bedroom, the floor sounds like it will break any second, the patio screen, which was put inside out, fire alarms that ring at random times for no reason, caulking outside the window (there is no caulking), an electrical switch problem where the downstairs light switch controls the upstair's porch, and lastly, there wasn't a gas dryer option put in the laundry room as I had said we needed but instead I was told that I did not mention it beforehand.
I have continuously asked the supervisors and managers at Ashlar Homes to please take a look and fix it but I get two responses, we cannot fix it because it was my fault or it was not covered under the warranty. Why would I spend half a million dollars on a house just to destroy it? I am 60 years old, looking forward to retirement and here I am being accused of destroying my own carpet. I have explained numerous times but it seems like they just take your money and let you suffer even if others have seen the damages before me moving into the home and are willing to testify such like the realtor.
If you want a honest and well reputable contractor "Do not look for this company. I hope this helps people make the right decision

Buyers be ware... Silver tongued liar. This crook has come into our community and made promises he never kept, sold houses with major water drainage issues due to building them on top of springs. Does not maintain construction sites, does not follow HOA guidelines. And even recently put vinyl siding on 2 homes in a community with no vinyl siding and $400,000 houses. He will take shortcuts where ever he can... He never got the vinyl approved by the HOA and know refuses to take it down. Forcing HOA to take legal actions... Tons of rock and gravel still piled up all around the community. Where is Blue Springs codes and building department? I'll tell you where, Shawn Woods and Ashlar Homes back pocket. Disgusting good old boy network we have over here in Blue Springs.
