    First floor remodel and extension of dormers

    Avenue Contracting hired to reconfigure first-floor bathroom and kitchen and extend dormers on the back half of house. There were several instances in the beginning of the renovation that contractors did not abide by NJ Home Improvement Law. There were certain terms that were not included in the contact and work was performed before permits were approved by building department. After 5 months of renovation (from time after permits were approved), they had us sign a “Estimate” memo stating the cost to finish the product and requesting payment. We were desperate so we signed since there were only about 3 more weeks of work to be done. Two weeks later they requested more money to finish the renovation ourselves. We fired them and we finished the renovation. We were frustrated that Avenue Contractor was stalling the completion of the project, raising fees not warranted, and quality of work.

    Everything written in this review is based on a lie. We are a professional contractor and respect our customers and always honor our contracts. we completed many jobs in NJ and NY. We have been in business since 2005. This customer changed the scope of work multiple times and requested a lot of extra work at the same price, we requested the money that was due according to the contract but the customer refused to give any money. We were trying to solve the problem with the customer during which time the customer took our tools and scaffolding and later sold them. We never got our money or tools but we are in business to help people build their dream houses and businesses and in the process build the country. We didn't want to take this matter to court and let it go and continue doing business and helping other customers. Everything in this review is a lie. Our regular job size is a lot bigger than this job. We have completed corning tower in albany. We have done 280 Broadway in the city. We have worked at multiple libraries with new york city and we take pride in carrying a very reputed name in the industry. The only reason this matter didn't go to court was that this job and money involved was not substantial enough for us to waste our time in the courts.
