Ben talks a big game he is attentive until he receives the deposit after that it’s issue after issue. He didn’t show up when we scheduled wouldn’t let us know when plans changed. A month after the job was completed we started seeing weeds come through, I reached out to Ben and he never responded. A couple of weeks after that we noticed our driveway was never leveled and now water is getting into our garage. We have tried calling, emailing and texting he just ignores us. Don’t hire this company unless you want to deal with a headache

Benjamin talks a good game, and will promise you the world. But once he gets your deposit he will make up excuse after excuse why they can’t come to complete the work when promised. They left my driveway ripped apart for six weeks, and when they finally came, I found things they broke but didn’t tell us about. They dumped large chunks of asphalt in the woods I found after they left, and he promised to seal my driveway in the fall which was included in the money I paid him for the driveway. After three promised dates, and three no shows, he will not respond to calls from me or my wife. The kicker, I got him 4 other driveways in the area. Total scam artist.

Ben seemed like a great person, friendly, informative, and offered a fair price for the work to be completed. That’s where the positives stop. I have numerous issues which I reported a few days after the installation of my driveway. This was in April 2022. At of 7/18/2022 no resolution has been met despite his numerous promises, weekly that he would be out to make repairs and correct issues that occurred during install. (There is weeds growing through the surface of the asphalt.) What caused us to go with B&J for our project was the offer of a 3 year warranty, however that is useless If the company has no intention of honoring the warranty. Please keep in mind our installation occurred in April of 2022 and it’s now July, that’s over 3 months that I’ve worked to reach a resolution. A complete breach of contract, poor workmanship, and even more pitiful “customer service.” Even if he matches or beats your other quotes pay more and save yourself the trouble.

We reached out to this contractor last week and scheduled for them to come out today 8/11/21 to pave our driveway. Ben and his crew came out and did an amazing job and completed everything in one day. They made sure the yard was cleaned prior to leaving and they offered very fare pricing. We are very pleased with their work as is our neighbor who had their driveway done as well.

I maintenance many properties in central jersey.
Benjamin and Robert have work on several of them in the past 6 years. From complete paving to repair work. They always give me a great price and show up on time. On top of that they do great work. I never had any issues so far. By far the most reliable company i have worked with. -

What Ben from B & J Asphalt promise is not what they deliver, they promised 2 1/2 " asphalt rolled to 2" . On average the thickness was less than 1 1/2", the contract stated the 2 1/2 rolled to 2", in fact many areas were less than 1" some areas as little as 3/4".
The contract was for $19,500 at the end of the first day of paving they came and said they needed another $2400,00. It was obvious to me that they scammed me from the start. I was a dope for agreeing to pay, so I paid by a credit card .
After I discovered, how they hid the fraud about the thickness I disputed the credit card charge. Waiting to hear if I won the dispute. All documentation and photos of the above issues were sent with the complaint, (dispute).
They hid the issue of thivkness by racking loose gravel against the fi ished edge, thus hiding their fraud.
I can go on and on about their dishonesty, however it would be redundant!
I have filed a complaint with the Ocean County, NJ weights and measures department of consumer affairs.
Never use this company if you do you will be sorry, for most never look underneath the job, they only look on top.

Ben was pleasant and seemed trustworthy, but....forget it. My driveway is horrible: not level, low spots that puddle up, surface keeps coming apart with gravel/sand/small rocks that I keep sweeping up or they get tracked into the house. I was told by another contractor they used either recycled asphalt or base course asphalt and was also not hot when they put it down. I paid $10,000 for the driveway and it needs to be ripped up and done properly. What a waste of money.
