  It's a good thing this pool contractor is out of business. They messed up the installation of my pool. I've had to spend thousands of dollars to fix their mess. I was also informed by my new pool mechanic that the problem they left behind was a dangerous one. If the couple ever opens up a business again, beware!!

  Here is our story about our very poor experience with Back Yard Pool Creations.
  
  We just moved into this house in October of 2021. The previous owners had the pool built by Back Yard Pool Creations and it was installed in July of 2020. When we moved in during October, the current owners politely had us over to show us how to operate the pool and take care of it. They had been paying a pool service to take care of the pool on a weekly basis and add chemicals as needed. The pool was beautiful and was one of the biggest reasons we loved the house!
  
  During December of 2021, we noticed a small rust spot about the size of a dime on the wall of the deep end of our pool. This spot was not there prior and had just began to appear. We went to our local Pinch-A-Penny to ask them their thoughts on this stain. With the pool being so new, they believed it was a minor surface stain, possibly due to something metal grazing the side of the pool. We tried using their recommended methods to get the stain out (Stone cleaning tool), but the stain would not disappear. At this point and after some web research, we realized that the stain was not on the surface of the pool, but instead, was coming from behind the wall due to rebar.
  
  The stain began to get bigger and it started to bubble out. Our previous owners left us the contact information for Back Yard Pool Creations who installed the pool, so we reached out to them in early January. We could not get in contact them initially, so we left a voicemail about our concern. The owner eventually reached back out to us and put us in contact with the contractor who did the finish of the pool. The contractor was very difficult to communicate with and would only respond via text messages. Eventually, after much back and forth and rescheduled repair times due to other jobs he was at, the contractor came out to our property and fixed the pool on February 7th (a month after our initial call). After he finished patching the spot, he grabbed a beer out of his truck and drank it in our back area while he was cleaning up. This drinking anecdote is unrelated to the pool being fixed but I wanted to mention it since I will go on to talk about the unprofessionalism by Back Yard Pool Creations.
  
  When it came time to discuss payment, Back Yard Pool Creations told us that we would be responsible for this $600 repair since the warranty for the pool only lasts 1 year and does not transfer to new owners. We discussed with them about how a rebar stain is due to poor manufacturing of the pool and how ourselves, and the prior owners, have routinely taken care of the pool. Back Yard Pool Creations gave us a couple of excuses:
  
  They stated that the prior owners did not take care of the pool properly. This is false because they paid for weekly maintenance of the pool and the issue was not present when we bought the house. Additionally, since we have owned the house, we have taken the pool water to Pinch-A-Penny on a weekly basis and have upheld proper maintenance of the pool. This is the same excuse that we have found the owner use as a response to other negative reviews of this company on various review sites.
  
  They also tried to state that it was the contractor’s fault for not finishing the pool properly. While this may be true to an extent, Back Yard Pool Creations should be responsible for the work of the contractor that THEY HIRED. This is not the fault of the prior owners or of our ourselves.
  We understand that mistakes happen and that the pool only had a 1-year warranty for the original owner. However, it is our understanding that a rebar stain that requires a $600 repair should not be expected on a pool that is less than 2 years old from being installed. The fact that Back Yard Pool Creations wants to deflect and make excuses about the situation instead of trying to sympathize and help a customer, says a lot about the pride in their work and their business practices. By no means did we expect them to cover the full cost of the repair, but we did expect them to have some professionalism and take a little bit of the ownership of the matter.
  
  I hope this review finds the eyes of anyone who is in search of a pool contractor, and I hope our negative experience aides in your search elsewhere. The pool itself is beautiful, but we are worried about what future problems we will run into. Since this rebar situation has happened in less than 2 years from the pool being installed, we just hope and pray we don’t have any more issues that are out of our control. Additionally, we have zero faith in Back Yard Pool Creations helping us out if future repairs are ever needed

  Pool

  I had SUCH a good experience with Backyard Pool Creations! I called a few other places last summer when we decided to put in a pool and because I was home for the summer I was the main person dealing with all of the companies. Sadly, I felt very talked down to by one company and both of the other places promised me things that I think were out of reach for me given the constraints of my property. Stephanie was SO professional and went OUT OF HER WAY to make sure that I got what I wanted. She didn’t make false promises like the other two places did to get me to sign with them, instead she got with Bob and told me the truth of what size pool could fit on my property. I have a relatively tight backyard and a lanai that juts out, therefore my pool would have to be skinny in the area across the back of the house. The other companies made promises to make it much wider in an effort to get me to sign with them. Stephanie told me the painful truth, that because of my property line and the footers to my lanai, my pool could only be 6.5 feet along the back. The other two builders promised 8 feet which was nice, but I called the county to make sure since I was getting such varied information from the companies I was dealing with. It turns out Stephanie was right. Even though she had to give me bad news she told me the truth and that obviously makes a huge difference when spending so much money. Throughout the process Stephanie made me feel like I was her only customer. She responds to emails quickly and comforted me with any question I asked. There were a few small hiccups along the way... but that is to be expected with any work being done. Stephanie and Bob handled everything quickly and made sure that I was satisfied. I can’t recommend them enough. Thank you both for my beautiful backyard!!

  Pool and patio

  I personally do not recommend them. I do not live at the property full time so I never got to speak to Bob directly. Every time I had a question or concern, I had to speak to his wife and then get Bobs response through her. Very frustrating. Also my pool design is different from what I submitted. My patio is 6” higher then it was suppose to be so I can’t even hang a ceiling fan on the Elite Roof that I paid to have 2 ceiling beams put in. I asked for a 12 foot patio and I got 11 1/2 feet. They count the gutter as the additional 6”. So the patio literally ends right by the pool bath door and it hits the roof every time you open it. (Due to the patio floor being 6” higher and the patio roof being too close) sigh my Elite patio roof leaked from day 1. I don’t mean 1 little drip either. The entire roof at every single panel leaked. The patio company came out twice and so far it’s stopped but it’s only been a couple weeks. We shall see. I paid for an umbrella hole in my beach area, well it’s not centered, it’s over to one side. I paid for 2 bubblers, only 1 of them actually blows up water and that’s only if it’s turned on full blast. I paid for another umbrella hole in my pool table and it’s too small to fit an umbrella. I purchased a pool vacuum and have had 3 pool cleaning people try to get it to work, and I don’t have enough suction. It works great on other pools (we took it to our friends pool to be sure) my pool just doesn’t have enough suction. ?‍♀️ I could go on and on. They were the lowest estimate so I guess you get what you pay for. It’s not like I can fix any of these things either ?
