Baldwin Construction

Mr. Baldwin comes off as a nice all around guy who knows his business. Nothing could be further from the truth. He committed fraud, lied to us, drug out the process of building way beyond our contract. He gave no progress reports after repeatedly asking for them on a monthly basis. There are still items on the home to be finished and he won't return calls or see to the remaining items. I have had to contact local authorities and hire an attorney just to get him to finish the final paperwork to get our permanent mortgage. The months of purposeful delays cost us a great deal in added interest in our loans. He mismanaged time, contractors and materials to the extent we had to contact our lender and make sure subs were being paid and we had to get several of them paid out of pocket and by the lender directly. Receipts turned in to our lender were sometimes questionable. We had left over expensive building materials and he gave them to subs. He did not use the materials he stated he was going to use on our roof and the subs put the lament down like monkeys did it. Due to continuing costs of interest we were forced to settle for an amount that we should not have had to pay. What was supposed to be the highlight of our later years turned out to be a nightmare. After we were deep into it I checked some references I should have check before and it turns out he doesn't know that much about construction or design. The architect used to draw our design was his student son, not a licensed architect at the time. That proved to be costly as well because of changes in poor design. He will not return calls or complete the work. We will have to sue him now to get this done or at least get the money to get it done.
